Don't wear a coat. Like somebody said, layer. It kills me to take folks out and when the dux come in they can't shoot cause the gun is caught under they're arm. Tshirt, polypro under shirt(light or heavy depending on temp) and one button up. When its cold add a DRAKE pull-over and you WILL be fine. FINE. And you'll be able to shoulder your gun. Now if your hunting the river, take a goose down caught for the to and fro.

And take the "mittens" off as well. Can't shoot with gloves on. Stick hands in waders.

I am a fan of Columbia Parkas.

I have had the same one for about 10 years now and it is still in great shape. It is so warm that till I started boat hunting I didn't wear it much.

I like it so much, when I lost the hood, I seeked out a fellow msducker who had an extra and talked$ him out of it.

i had a storm hide jacket for years till the zipper broke and i loved it , but this year i got a drake wader tec and i like it pretty good.

I bought a Hodgman wader jacket at Wal mart today across from North Park marked down to $35. I'll let ya know how good it is tomorrow. But for $35 it can half booty and still be good.

I'd have to agree with hillhunter. Buy some quality clothes to layer with and most times you'll be able to go without a bulky parka. I use good long johns, fleece turtleneck shirts and a windproof fleece pullover jacket. Only wore the columbia parka once this year when it was pouring down rain.

I will agree with hillhunter, but I also have the complete browning suit, but it is LOUD on the deer stand, BUT YOU CAN BET YO TOAST booty AINT GETTIN COLD!!

Thanks guys for the input. Did not expect to get this many replies. I have one of the original Mossy Oak Whistling Wings wader coats and I have never gotten cold wearing it. It was made before all of these "silent" materials came out and it is just too loud for deer hunting. Mobility is also problem when wearing it. Sounds like layering up with a wind proof outer layer is the way to go.

Someone mentioned Cabelas brand gear. I have bought Cabelas gear in the past and have been very satisfied.

I'll second Crackhead, with a small zip in fleece its the warmest coat I own.

The new Rivers West stuff is great. You can submerge their fleece in water and the stuff still does not get wet.

I have had a Columbia full length 4in1 for about 7-8 years now with no complaints. The coat is Very warm and not bulky and heavy like its counterparts. Since I bought this one Columbia has come out with a hush hide like material that makes it quieter for deer hunting. I would suggest a Columbia for both deer and duck hunting and anything else in cold weather.

I got the same thing in the 4 in 1 from Wal Mart a couple years back and I agree, warmest I have ever had. I use if for deer and duck hunting and only paid 79.00 bucks for it

cant go wrong w/ drake.

also, i like layering up. some of the drake shirts are warmer than most coats on the market. i got a shirt that i can't even wear b/c it hasn't gotten cold enough this season.
