KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s,60's,70's
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with brightly colored lead-based paint.
Medicine bottles, doors nor cabinets were childproof, and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. Does anyone remember double-heading?? As children, we also rode in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick-up was a special treat!
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle!! We shared one soft drink WITH SUGAR between four friends, and no one died! We ate cupcakes, white bread, and real butter. But we weren’t overweight because…WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us, and we were okay!
We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps then ride down the hill only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendos, or X-boxes. If we were lucky, we had an Atari!! No 199 channels on cable or big-screen TVs. No VHS or DVDs. No surround sound, cell phones or personal computers. No internet and email! We invented them!!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies, and the worms didn’t live in us forever. We were given BB guns on our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and although we were told it would happen, put very few eyes out!
Little league had tryouts, and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. The idea of a parent bailing us out of jail was unheard of. Parents sided with the law.
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever! The past fifty years have exploded with innovation and new ideas! We had freedom, failure, success, and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with them all!! Congratulations!! You are one of us!
You may want to share this with others who had the luck to grow up before lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good. Share it also with your kids! Let them know how brave their parents were!
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it??

So true. I personally don't have kids, but some of these people kill me with how they raise thier children. Helmets on while bike riding, and now all of the outdoor playing has to be 'structured'. That's how the stupid and weak kids got weeded out from society.
Hell, we'd leave first thing in the morning, on our bikes with no helmets, and play in the woods all day as long as we were home in time for dinner. Making spears, trapping animals, fishing, swimming, playing capture the flag, tackle football with no helmets or pads, any number of things that we could get into good trouble doing.

If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.
Sambo, I second that, they saved the best for last....

Heck I remember B/W tv, and only 3 channels! The screen door hit me in the butt every morning and I 'd only show back up for snack, lunch, and supper time. You did not even have to lock the house. I saw every thing on I-55 go up. Do you remember when I-55 stopped at Woodrow Wilson Dr.? My how times have changed. Had my first car in the 6th grade. Drove it to school every day.
