Ivory-Billed Woodpecker

Postby shooter » Fri Jan 13, 2006 8:30 am

Since the 2004 rediscovery of the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker in Arkansas, have there been any noteable sightings in the Mississippi Delta?

If there ever was an Irovy-Billed Woodpecker in the state it was prolly shot mistakenly for a merganser by a some these idiots from South Carolina.

It was neat to read about the Ivory-Billed WP in the Holt Collier biography. IF there are any out there today, my bet is down in Delta Nation Forest.

Sherlock, don't you think if there had been a sighting anywhere, it would have been broadcast by every media outlet in the country???

Sherlock (Shooter) -

Perhaps you should post your little Woodpecker topic on the General Discussion forum, since that is where it belongs.

You wanna' go Junt some Ivory-Billed Woodpeckers??? :D

Are you just plain ignorant----You cant hunt the ivory-billed woodpecker.

By the way--it looks like i have had some response from posting this topic on this Forum. THe ivory-billed woodpecker is a type of waterfowl. I thought you would be smater than that--especially a retired educator such as yourself.

:D   :o :) :? :D

Shootless -

You still wondering if there's been any "noteable" sightings of your dear Ivory-Billed Woodpecker? Perhaps you could also post this subject with a birdwatchers group...you'd fit in well with them as well.

Hope you don't stay-up past your bedtime contemplating this subject.

Best of luck, however.

Adios...

Our new member joined a month ago, jeez fella's!

shooter, this is a pot stirrin' take no prisoners forum from time to time and for sure on certain subjects, so be forewarned and join the fracas.

A lot of the arkie reasearch was done hush-hush throughout last season. I saw 'em and wondered "what the hell are those guys doing" but went about my business. The press releases and "announcements" were a well planned event without any "noteworthy" pre-announcements.

There has been peckerwood research done in Louisiana with no results, so it's safe to assume there HAS been research done in this state as well. I reckon it's safe to assume there will be renewed interest in looking again and it wouldn't shock me to find out it's going on right now.

I selfishly hope they find the bird on some prime private duck land, acquire it all, make a new Federal refuge and let us hunt on part of it.
Them ducks is wary. We now resume our regularly scheduled forum melee in progress.
