Sawtooths rarely perform in the wild like they do in peoples yards. I've seen 5 year old trees in a yard loaded while I've seen 10 year old trees just planted and forgotten produce very little. They will grow on most sites but will produce more acorns on the better sites. They don't take competetion real well so if you can mow around them and fertilize them for the first few years it will definitely help. It is a white oak and the acorns take two years to mature but you can have acorns every year on the same tree. No timber value.

I plan on caring for these trees with fertilization and keeping the weeds down on them. They'll probably get more care there than in some peoples yard.
