Not to be your mother...but I can think of some other things to pay for before a new Gold.

I have never regretted getting my Benelli Nova pump. Shoots 3inces & 3.5s smoothly with the right recoil pad (Shooter's Friend from Cabelas). Has never jammed, frozen up or rusted. As they say, the performance is worth the price (about $400).

Last year I was ready to step to a semi-aut and was looking at the X2. I had a friend call me and tell me about a sale at www.gamaliel.com on Browning Golds. I got the Gold 3.5" for a little under $700 after the $100 rebate from Browning. That was basically the same price the X2's were going for.

I think they have started back the rebate deal on Gold's and BPS's.

I love my Gold!

Good Luck!

Pintail,
I saw where a Super X2 was 689.00 and the Gold was 774.00. If I am correct Winchester and Browning are made by the same manufacture. I have heard good stuff about the Super X2.
