Do you think dogs flare ducks?
My wife has a house cat that resembles a female red fox... I been trying to figure out a way to make him disappear for years now. I think she'll buy the "I'm gonna take HotRod the cat duck hunting with me" so he can attrack ducks. I wonder how he's gonna do swimming out to the blind?
I ain't a veternarian, but I know a horses booty when I see one!

We can use a dog to lure in the ducks but not spinners? I am about to open a can of worms but I really don't give a chit. Where is the fine line? Who makes the fine line? I bet that when people first started using decoys these same discussions came about. Is it fair to hunt deer over a manmade food plot? What is the difference between that and corn? Should all of us use a recurve and spears and blowguns only to kill wild game? I think not. I am not trying to stir up a hornets nest here but I just want to see what others think about this. And where is the fine line?

the answer really depends on the ducks...if they're local ducks and have had their booty blasted for a few weeks then yeah, pretty much anything will flare 'em...but, if they're new ducks lookin' for a place to land then they aren't gonna be as wary....

I have tried to tie a jerk string to his tail.... Would give him something to do in the blind....
didnt work though.
I have had them land in the decoys while my mule-of-a-lab was chasing down a cripple. Also haid them flair if he got over excited and left the blind a little early.
Heck, if you ever think you have these ducks semi-figured out, ...

the dogs themselves do not flare ducks. If the dog is moving in/around the blind, it draws the ducks' attention to the blind. If the dog breaks, it's the surprise, not the dog itself, that flares them.
As evidence of this 2nd point: This past weekend, suzie leading a drake in to the dekes--landing gear down and 30 yards out. A kingfisher cuts across in front of the suzie at close range--she turned inside out and went vertical just as if we had shot at her.
My brother's lab is out of champion show bloodlines--he's snow white. We spent the first season trying to figure out how to hide him. Now we dont even try, he doesnt flare em.
