AKC Retriever Hunt Test

How come you did not run him at Magnolia Retriever Club in Kearney Park? WE put on a pretty good test. I also like to go to Ponchatrain and Misd south in Memphis.

Well I think Ponchartrain is the BEST by far!! [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img] However I find most to be pretty good. I have not made it to magnolia, but I know Big Lou pretty good and he has judged some of our tests and I would feel theirs is good. Mid South aint bad a good test, but not my favorite.

How many of you have dogs that participate in AKC Hunt Tests? Give your opinion on which retriever club puts on the best hunts and why. My puppy got his Jr. at Ponchatrain,La. and Bootheal,Mo. Ponchatrain Retriever Club was the tougher (better) of the two. Let's here your opinions.

I have run MidSouth and Magnolia. The quality of the weekend is usually judged by the effort the club puts forth to see that the hunt is run smoothly. The host club members need to realize that they are acting as hosts and not necessarily as entrants.
Good grounds, organization at check-in, tests that start on time and the hospitality of the host club are things that I judge the quality of the hunt by. Toughness of the tests are normally left to the individual judges.
Good strong clubs usually have consistently good hunts. The efforts of the club members always overcome any obstacles the weather or lack of grounds may present.
