because their contract ends tomorrow and majority of the sporting stores online have already sold out, not many leftovers left.
Cabelas has some 2 3/4 loads on backorder from like last week or so. They still have some 3.5's but totally out of the 3's and cannot be reordered, still have some 20 ga loads though.
Bass Pro is out of everything except the HV hevi in BB's or 2's, with some 20 gauge shells left also.
Here is what Mack's is showing that they have left but half of the time they have stuff that's out of stock that's not listed as so on the site.

Remington no longer has contract to produce HEVI-SHOT. Environmetal, (same folks who make HEVI-Steel) the manufacturer of the shot itself is bringing all production in house. They have made(or marketed) their own line of shells along side Remington all along. You'll still be able to get HEVI just not from Remington. I can't verify web address at work because of filter but try http://www.hevishot.com or google environ-metal.

Remington has always had much better QC than Environmetal, that owns the formula. Environmetal had its shells loaded by Polywad, and they were OK, but not nearly the payloads or speeds of the Remington stuff.

Hevi-Shot will now be made by the company that developed it Environmetal. You can check it out at http://www.hevishot.com.
Heres a little info on it.
Press Release 4 August 2005
HEVI-Shot® Launches An Independent Ammunition Company
ENVIRON-Metal, Inc. – makers of HEVI-Shot® pellets, and ultraperformance shotshells under the HEVI-Steel®, HEVI-13™, and Dead Coyote!™ trademarks – will become a performance ammunition company, effective 1 October 2005. The company will develop, manufacture, and market the popular HEVI-Shot® shotshells for the traditional distribution and retail channels.
ENVIRON-Metal is taking this step to speed the introduction of its many new HEVI-Shot® products to hunters. “We always focus on innovating for the hunter,†said Pancho Fulton, Director of Sales and Marketing for ENVIRON-Metal. “We’ve learned during the past 4 years that we can get our new products into the hands of hunters much more quickly by manufacturing on our own.†ENVIRON-Metal will allow its HEVI-Shot® co-branding arrangement with Remington Arms Company, Inc. to expire on 30 September 2005.
ENVIRON-Metal invented the HEVI-Shot® brand of extreme-density shot materials that are the benchmark of performance in the industry. “HEVI-Shot® pellets are the clear leader in the performance sector of the market,†said Ralph Nauman, President of ENVIRON-Metal, “and HEVI-Shot® has emerged as the preferred brand of performance shotshells for waterfowl and turkey enthusiasts. This success results from our constant commitment to build the best hunt.â€
“For 2006, we will use our material science capability to raise the performance standard substantially through an entirely new class of proprietary shotshell components and alloys,†said Mr. Nauman. “The revolutionary process technology required to do this is unique and makes manufacturing our logical next step.â€
Ron Petty, a principal in Outdoor Sales Solutions LLC and the former Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at ATK, will advise the company during its transition. “We are pleased to have Ron sharing his industry expertise to assist in the transition,†Nauman stated. “We look forward to working more closely with our many friends in the industry.â€
ENVIRON-Metal will showcase the new shotshell and bullet technologies at the SHOT Show during February 2006. Until then, contact Pancho Fulton at 541.367.3522 for more information. The company’s Website, http://www.hevishot.com, will also feature new developments as they are announced.

I bought two cases of 1 & ½ oz 6 shot from ENVIRON-Metal for a buddy and I last fall. Both cases had bad crimps and the buffer powder leaks everywhere. Double R and I called ENVIRON-Metal about it. They told us Remington had manufactured the shells. They offered to replace mine but only had Turkey loads so kept the leaking shells. Tey shoot fine but create a mess.
I was in Mean Mallard Thursday and found some of the Remington Hevishot with the same bad crimp problems. Same deal, buffer leaking everywhere.
I hope they get their act together. I can understand distributors running out of stock but the manufacturer being out is a joke. And bad crimps on a +/- $2.00 shell is an even bigger joke. The good shells are certainly worth it though. I would hate to have to go back to steel.

That is funny. Sounds like everyone is getting different stories. They told me that all the "in-house" Hevi from Environmetal was loaded by Polywad. Who knows. You are SO RIGHT about funky crimps and grex buffer getting everywhere. I was testing some Hevi-Steel last year and the stuff was blowing out the ejection port and getting in my eyes constantly. The old Polywad HS loads had roll crimps. Hopefully, they will go to star crimps on everything.

Went to Bass Pro Friday to pick up some Hevi-Shot. Didn't have any left except for BB's. Bought some Fast-Steel and it took a couple down for me this weekend.

If I am correct before rem. got the HS contract. Envir. M had three different shell manufaturers loading it for them. Poly-wad, estate, and another small manufacturer. I know I bought 2 boxes pre-remington one box had clear shells with roll crimping and the other red shells with star crimping and I believe they even had estate markings on the shell.
Hopefully the price will go back to pre-remington. They were around $15 a box still real steep but better than $20.
