Ever heard of a band with a Bible verse?..

Postby iron grip » Tue Dec 27, 2005 2:51 pm

That's right one of our own "O/U" was hunting this morning with some friends and guests in an off the map location as far as duck hunting goes picked up a greenhead with the fabled Jack Miner's band on him. I'm just posting the pics for him, he can tell the story...here's a pic with another to follow:

If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

What a prize.

Tell you bud to consider making a donation to the Jack Miner Bird Banding Sanctuary. They live and breath by Jack's wish, "Let there be one place on earth where no money changes hands."

What that means to you and me? They charge no admission on the grounds and only accept donations via mail. Giving to the JMBS is a great way to help insure the tradition stays alive.

I got tired of chasing him!!!

I'll tell you how to get a Jack Miner band, take a preacher with you!
The story goes..
I buddy of mine son was home from West Point that wanted to go duck hunting. We had allready arrange a special hunt for a Mississippi preacher and another preacher's son from Kansas who is staying the week. We have left the hole alone all year for thier trip. I was expecting to walk out with 5 limits. The hole has been full of green and grey but they dicided not visit the day of the hunt. So the 5 of use head out. Shot some ducks and decided to pick them up out of the decoy spread. First duck that was picked up was banded. They didn't know what it was untill I told them about it. Another man also shot at the duck. But of course I'm the one who killed it   We dicided to get it mounted with our picture under it and give it to the preacher.
It was a great hunt and probably a once in a life time.

fellas - that is as pure of an act of selflessness that I have ever seen. To kill a JM band, not argue over it and then give it away. That's awesome and congrats on the band O/U.
