Does anybody do this????????????????

Postby Bigpoppa » Thu Dec 22, 2005 11:19 pm

Whenever I kill a deer or even see one , I say a prayer of thanks because it is our great lord that makes all things possible. Said a prayer with my 10 year old after whackin a doe today . She gripped my hand and it was an emotional moment. i thank God for allowing us to partake of this great sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sure do...

I remember when I was a kid, yall remember that movie "Last of the Mohicans" where the first scene of the movie the indian stalking the deer and you shoot it's with his bow and kills it...you know...anyhow he goes over to it a kneels with great great reverence and prays over the animal before skinning it or whatever...well that really struck a chord with me, and I was really a kid when that movie came out. And that combined with being a christian and raised in a christian home, I've always had that reverence when I take an animal, even if it momentary silence or just to myself...What makes outdoorsmen different from just hunters...I hope everyone installs this into their kids...these are the things PETA and such groups don't understand.

sitting in a stand before sunrise and seeing God's creation come to life. I feel the closest to him at that moment.

I have to get better at being thankful for those days that dont turn out quite as well. Its easy to be thankful when all goes well. I am working on the other part!

Prayer

Postby JoHo » Sat Dec 24, 2005 2:33 pm

I am glad to see so many folks do this. I say a prayer of thanks when I get up into my stand or duck blind for the safety traveling to camp and allowing me to get to my hunting location safely. Also, for the people hunting with me that we may be good stewards of what God has given us!

Merry CHRISTmas!

Another thing that I do...when I let a good buck walk ( a 120 buck or less), I thank God for giving me the opportunity to see such a great animal, and since I made the choice to not shoot that animal, please bless me w/ a larger buck for me to harvest.

It worked last Friday  ...passed up SEVERAL nice bucks; one 8-point even went 125. Said that prayer once again. Right at dark a big 10-point stepped out and 'katie bar the door'.

Scored 131...personal best.... 8)

Thank you, Lord
