Funny you asked that JMallard. I was on my way up to the lake last thurs. and stopped to at Super Junior to get some ice. There was 2 guys that had been bowfishing up there that had 2 nice gar in the back of the truck. If I had to guess probablly 25 to 35 lbs. Them things kinda hard to judge by the pound they way there shaped. I guess I am used to looking at catfish. Anyway the had some more smaller ones with them. They shot them all at the gate. I was thinking about setting my bow up and trying it. I dont know. Thats all the info I have on it though, hope it helps.

That bow would be at the house...anyway I think I am just going to throw a spear...be a hell of a lot more accurate than that bow!

You might try a crawfish bandit or a broken-back rapala instead.

A recurve is the way to go when it comes to shooting surfacing fish. The recurve is so much faster, as far as, having to shoot in a hurry. I shoot a 55 pound recurve and shoot alot of tournaments and have never had a problem landing the big fish. Those fish at that gate will surface and go back down, so you have to be fast. A big fish (25 and up) in that current will probably tear up a cheap set-up. Good Luck to all that try them.
