conclusions about du

Postby Hayes » Thu Dec 15, 2005 8:18 pm

Well after much thought and much reading on the prior post and doing a little research on my own, I have come to find that yes maybe DU does some things that are shady but hey I do to everyday Im human, but the bottom line is they have and continue to save wetlands. Thats a proven fact. They have saved many nesting areas which in turned have helped the duck numbers. I Do think DU could do more int he south and I hope to see more in the future. Besides do we have any other options for big time support and fight for wetlands.

DU

Postby duckaddict2 » Fri Dec 16, 2005 8:22 am

Go to a banquet on night, have a few too many, and bid on some stuff! That has always been my weakness! Then I complain about the $500 I spent the next day, then I realize that it was for a good cause. Heck I can't remember a time when I didn't come out ahead at a banquet!

That's why I'm a member and my two young sons are greenwings. They are an asset to the conservation effort in especially the Lower Mississippi Valley. I support Delta and several other conservation efforts, too, but DU accomplishes through partnerships in our part of the world what other NGO partners simply can not.

DU

Postby Muddpup » Thu Dec 29, 2005 5:45 pm

Using conservation easements, DU has protected millions of acres (some of which were very important wetlands) from development or simple conversion. They probably rank in the top 5 conservation groups for saving / protecting land. Once a conservation easement is placed on the land it is protected "FOR EVER... IN PERPITUITY"! Without the efforts of DU since 1937... Mississippi would not have ducks on a good day.
