I fell 2 years ago and cleaned my gun but forgot to take the choke out and clean it so it rusted up inside the gun. I forgot about it for about 5-6 months and the only way I could get the choke out of the gun was with a ease-out. It ruined the choke but thats better than ruining a barrel

Its kinda dangerous, but if you let the barrel sit in some heated oil for 15 min or so, remove the heat and let it sit overnight, it should come out. Don't burn your house down, though.

I got one stuck in my browning gold last year. I got it out by buying one of those choke wrenchs that look like a fishing real and fit in all four holes of your choke tube. It was made for a remington, so the prongs were slightly big for my browning choke tubes. I tapped the wrench into the tube with a hammer and then I had to tap the wrench around 4 or 5 times before the choke got loose enough to turn by hand. You could also try using a "cheater bar" on the end of the wrench. It only takes one stuck choke tube before you realize the importance of removing your chokes and placing a drop of oil on the threads during each cleaning.

Good luck,

Kevin
No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work out anyway.

I see you are in Jackson so if the heated oil does not work, take it to Swann’s Gun repair on Old Canton Road. Dave or Trey will get it out; probably while you wait.

heated oil works or, you can go the other way heat the barrel (in boiling water if you want) as hot as you can... Then stick it in some frozen pentetrating oil (PB Blast works real well).... Then once you get it out go buy some choke tube grease and keep it greased....

marvel mystery oil

Postby jdbuckshot » Sat Dec 17, 2005 12:04 pm

you will not have to cut the barrell off!

go get you some marvel mystery oil from one of the parts houses in your town. heat the barrel, not red hot, a heat gun will be the best option. and then soak the end of your barrel in that marvel mystery oil for a few days. then take of of those 4 pronge choke wrenches and twist her out!
