If you like sight fishing . . . and don't mind catching gars, now is the time to go!!! find any culvert under the road and throw a crawfish bandit to them. It is a mildly entertaining way to spend a lonely afternoon in the delta.
Really we wanted to catch catfish but never got any. Mind you, we didn't bust a gut trying or anything, but I figured we should have had at least some bites.
The water is draining out FAST. Probably more than a foot a day. There was lots of bait being helplessy pushed by the current and the gars were having a field day. Is that why we couldn't catch any catfish? Does anybody know how to catch under those conditions.
We caught other stuff, though; several rodents while cleaning the yard and several snakes while riding the roads. Saw several gators, too. Be careful with your dogs. This one was probably resting on the bank on 720 road. I went to the upcurrent side and saw him several feet off the bank. He wasn't to friendly and left. Broken back rapalas work well on them.
I'll get back to the fishing I really like, in the La. marsh, on Thursday night.

yes, yes. we got the yard all cut and tore out those cabinets and hauled off 2 truckloads of trash.
We also had the rare opportunity to celebrate the one year anniversary of the re-opening of the Egremont Grocery!!! They had a big hoedown, with a live band and free food, which at 2 was still pretty good!
