River Hunting?

Postby Kealhofer » Tue Dec 13, 2005 9:28 pm

I went to the Ms. River Sunday from 7:00-2:30 and only saw 4 ducks. Where were they? I went to Eagle Lake a few weekends ago and saw thousands coming off of the river right before dark. I would appreciate any advice for hunting on the river. No smart remarks please!!!

Most likely any pockets of water off the river probably are on private land. Look for water behind sandbars.

How do you know they were coming off of the river and not from across the river where all those rice fields are? Seriously.

The good locations on the river are still high and dry. Until the river gets at least 19 to 22 feet very few ducks will use it except to raft for a little while. They be in the rice fields.

depends where you be
RedMans Bluff -2 and failing

Mempho -3 and failing
tunica -2 and failing
Island 38 12 and holding
Helena 14 ft and rushing

Then again I see nothing but sandbars outside the runout

Fields froze Friday and the ducks moved to the river. when they unthawed Sunday they moved back to the source of food. Prolly was a day late on your hunt.
