Report: 1st time @ Eagle Lake
Well for the first time on the lake I feel like I had a good day on the water. I left Jackson at 5:00 am and had the boat in the water at 6:10. In minutes I found my boat right in the middle of a feeding frenzy! I caught 3 large Hybrids but they were gone as fast as they came up. I began to ride the lake to look for more on the surface but was unable to find any. I started trolling using a Strike King crankbait that would dive 10'. I caught a lot of fish but all were small Hybrids and mostly yellow bass as we called them. I switched over to a 200 series crankbait that only would dive 4' to 8' feet and caught 2 more large Hybrids and a slough of small yellow bass. I left the lake a happy man around lunch time. I wish I would have been introduced to Hybrids before it got to hot outside because it looked to me as if it has slowed down compared to what I was hearing a couple of weeks ago. On a side note the big gar in the lake love a crankbait trolled by real slow as well. I hooked up with 5 or 6 big gar (10 or 12 lbs.) and landed all of them. I hate getting them of the hook but they were fun to catch. All and all it was a good day a ton better then being in the office. Next up crappie fishing the Res. in jackson Saturday.

I was introduced to hybrid fishing back in the middle ninties. I caught my first one off rotten deer meat, I was tight-lining for catfish.
Those fish pound-for-pound fight more than any freshwater fish out there. My best to date is a 16.87 lb monster I caught out of the private lake community I used to live at in Eudora, MS. I caught that fish and threw it in a cooler and kept fishing for several hours (caught it at night just after dusk) before I wieghed it. On the way to the car it threw up alot of shad on me, ran down my leg and almost filled my shoe.
Anyway, it was OUNCES off the state record, wish I would have weighed it earlier. I did have it mounted though.
Best time to fish for them is Early spring and fall, on moonless nights. Slow roll a Ratting Rouge, they can't stand it!

BigMule check your private mess. and thanx for the info I fished every spot you mentioned. It seems everybody fishes the same 4 or so spots for the Hybrids.

One More Pass,
Its good to hear from somebody who had a successful day on the lake. Did any of the suggestions I made make a big difference in your catch? If your up to exchanging a little more information from now on about the Reservior, Eagle, the river, etc... i'd be more than happy to keep up with what's happening on the water by EMAIL! Later ~BigMule~
