Eagle Lake Road

Postby BigMule » Mon Jun 03, 2002 10:53 am

Anybody passing by here needs to take the time to ride up toward Eagle Lake/Chotard just to see the high waters. I don't think i've ever seen so many critters on a stretch of road that had been ran over, they just don't have any place to hold up because of the water! This high water has got me hoping for a good fishing expedition or two out the mighty Mississip'! We're about due for a good season of fishing out of her!

Eagle Lake Road

There are a ton critters running around Eagle Lake Rd. after dark. There's got to be at least 20 dead possums, coons, and dillas. Featherduster's wife had a 4-5 ft. gator run across the road in front of her last week.
Deer are there too, and they haven't bushhogged the shoulders so you can't see nuthin till it's in the road.

Is the water backed up into the road ditches?

Not on the same subject, but has anyone else heard anything about a proposal to move 465 (eaglelake road) up onto the levee. My father said it was due to erosion rpoblems and that the idea might even bring the road in across Kings point Island.
I don't know if there is any truth to this, just wondering if anyof ya'll had heard about it.

Oh yes, the ditches on the side of the road are full. If the river was about 4 or 5 feet higher, I am certain of one spot on Eagle Lake road where the water would come over the road. Also, there was wood ducks from one end of Eagle Lake road to the other. If you want to find out how many people are unemployed around here, then ride up Eagle Lake road and see how many people you can count that are fishing. They'll be out there just as soon as the water starts falling good!
