BAND!

I killed a banded wood duck in North Al it was banded in Maryland,
The thing is we did not even see the band when I shot it we had brested him out before I found the band. I did not think woodys would travel like that.

Even though it says "Laurel Maryland" on the band doesn't mean it was banded there. That is where the company is located. I've shot two woodies in the Eastern Flyway with those bands. One from Pennsylvania, the other from some random place in Maryland. Gotta send the number in and they'll respond back on the birds info. Congrats though. It's always nice to see a little silver on your bird.

thanks for the input WD I just assumed that was where it was banded I did call the # and I am Awaiting the info.

my uncle killed a wood duck banded in minnesota one time, he killed it in greenville

Call the 800 number on the band. Laurel MD is where the agency is. Tell them the species, sex, date harvested, and location and they will send you a certificate with information about the bird, (date banded, estimated age, location of banding, etc.....).
