Gun Safe recommendations.....

Postby T-Bone » Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:11 pm

Looking for the best buy on a Gun safe. (fire rated) I have looked at several over the last few weeks and there has got to be a better deal out there somewhere. Another questions that has popped up while looking is concerning the hinges.....outside hinges vs. inside hinges...which is best? All the warranties seem to comparable

What brand do you guys/gals have and where did you buy it? I dont mind driving to 2-3 hours to pick it up. I just want to get what I pay for and save a few $$$ in the process and not pay for a name!

Anyone have any issues with a particular brand...ie defects, customer service or any other problems?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I bought a browning gold series about 10 years ago and it has served me well. I haven't needed the warranty or customer service (which is a good thing), so I can't comment on that. They are expensive, but I have been very pleased.

I wonder if there is a Liberty dealer any closer than Pearl? I think that is the kind that a buddy of mine has also.

go see Dave at SnS shooting supply in Walls (Churh road West of 61). He has several different brands (I know Browning & Cannon, but there might be others). From what I have seen, his prices are in line with most around.
Another possibility is wait for the next gun show. rumor has it that there is supposed to be one in December. there are usually atleast 1 - 2 different factory reps there.

I just bought a Browning Medallion series. I am very pleased. I know I paid more for the name but in comparison to all others it is finished out nicer and has a good fire rating. One thing that I noticed about all brands is that they don't hold the number of long guns they claim. Subtract 4-6 guns from what they claim.

Yea that is close to what I was told also. I was told a scoped rifle will take up two slots.

my buddy bought one from hunters haven in Tupelo last year for a little over $600 and is fire rated for I think 1200 for 30 minutes. I can't remeber the brand name though. I will get back with you on the name.
