It will be closed to waterfowl hunting untill further notice. Something about unsafe conditions due to katrina and lack of money to fix the problems for the same reason  first the pearl wma refugee and now this.

Panther Swamp is a great place CootBlaster. Check out Tupelo Brake. Usually has just enough water in it when it's dry to keep some birds coming in. Also, on the north side of the swamp, hit the pipline and go east. There are a few holes in there that will hold birds as well. Good luck and post back how you do. Also, if you really want to kill some birds, just go hunt the refuge part when no one's looking. You can always kill over your limit there. Just park on the other side of the levee and walk in. No one will know your over there. :D

Cootblaster, and you other new Public Land hunters, I know how tough it can be to find a good spot around here. So from my years of experience I will be happy to help any of you out. I know it can be tough coming to a new area, and to this forum, and everyone giving you hell about asking where to go. So, I'm just gonna open a can of worms and help you all out with my vast knowledge of public hunting in the MS delta. I don't hunt public land anymore so I really don't care about giving up any "secret spots" and hell, lets face it, are there any more real secret spots anymore. I don't think so. All you guys from S. Carolina and Tennessee done figured out all our old holes (and no DSM, thats not the wife I'm talking about). Anywho, you young fellars just go ahead and ask away. Ole' WD is here to help. Shoot 'em up.

The story in the post listed below happened at "Matthews Lake" I believe.
