That's one of the main reasons why I won't get into a lease. Seems as if these friggin farmers think they have got the hunting society by the nads and can just take their money and be done with them. Empty promises of water are the norm rather than the exception any more. A few lawsuits would straighten this out...and I can guarantee you I'd sue their arses off if they guaranteed water and didn't provide it...but I would also be smart enough to get it (guaranteed water) in writing. If you don't have it in writing you have absolutely nothing. A guy down the street from me is in the same boat as y'all, but there are 2 lawyers in the lease with them and they have already got a lawsuit in the works. These farmer folks who do this are building a bad reputation for themselves and won't be as apt to lease their stuff in the future. Now, I'll get off my soapbox
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

5 woodies, 2 gadwalls, bw teal, and 2 hoodeds, shot one mallard and lost him to the thick stuff. Saw two more big groups of mallards that wanted to work but couldnt close the deal. Not bad for da bigbee.

Rotdorn, tuff break. Did the guy tell u he was pumping and didn't, or did he tell you that he would and just never did?

Dutch Dog, there's several types out there in the landowning/ leasing game. Everybody, You need to be a lil suspicious of anybody leasing out any land. Ask yourself, "Why are they leasing this out to start with?" TO MAKE MONEY. Pumping cuts into that significantly. Best to negotiate your lease price way down, and offer to pay for the pumping yourself with the landowner's/ farmer's cooperation. Less likely to get burned in that situation. Plus, we usually will get enough rain to avoid pumping anyway.

Most farmers who are making ends meet don't need the headache of dealing with crazy duckhunters. $1000-$5000 isn't worth the hassle in most cases, or worth the risk of tearing up equipment to please the hunters, or liability of Joe Duckhunter shooting himself while stepping out of the blind. I just laugh to myself when I read or hear somebody say, "Well, I paid such and such $2000, and if he wants my money again he's going to have to do this and this....". Most of the Lessors don't need it unless its quick and easy.
