Handgrabbing

Postby BigMule » Tue May 07, 2002 2:38 pm

Heard they worked on them this past weekend at Eagle. I don't have a boat, and couldn't gather one up this past weekend to go unfortunately. Anyway, I hear the fish are thick in the barrels right now. I am going to figure out how to get up there in the near future. Anyway, i'll post how it went if I get the chance to go.

To all you handgrabbers, I heard that there was some sort of warning out about alligators in Eagle Lake. This is just hear say, and I don't know all the specifics. I think that there has been reports of more gators than usual in the lake. Also, I know a man that had his lab attacked and nearly killed this past duck season. The man wasn't hunting, the dog was just down by the lakeside and got attacked. The owner thinks that some duck hunters scared the gator from across the lake onto to his side of the lake(due to shooting). Anyway, be very careful if you go!

Just out of curiosity, would it be better to go with a larger group of people in hopes of keeping gators out of the vicinity, or would this excess commotion attract gators even more?

Hey Big Mule good to here from ya. Hung up if you dont bother them gators they will leave you along. I have grabbed out of barrels within 50 yards of a gator sitting on a log and he never moved. Key is dont mess with him. I remembered when I was up at State we used to wade Locofoma and bass fish. We waded around a small island and there was a huge gator up there, made an aweful noise like he growled at us. We just went to fishing the other way and he never moved. I would worry more about a thug breaking into my truck at the boat ramp more than I would a gator.

Hey Quinn looks like yall did real good. I will be up there this weekend with some young whippersnappers. We still got stuff to put out. Hopefully the fish will take to it.

Hey pewee,
I'm living up there and put some stuff out the other day. Checked it five days later and already had several fish. Get it out, they will come. I'll be on the lake Friday or Saturday.
