Ok,

I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 400 Manual Transimission, but the 400 or 500 would work just as well. I prefer the 2005 400 model over the 2006 just for the look. Either way on the 500. I did 12 months of research on all models before I bought mine.

Bennefits
- Suzuki Engine (Was second to Honda until they stop making the 300, now is first in reliability) Straight from the mouth of a man who makes his living working on them
-12 Inches Ground Clearance - Honda has 7
-Disk Brakes all the way around - Sealed Drum on Honda
-Manual Transmission - Won't slip in water like the Polaris or Yamaha will.
-Low/High Range Trans - Good High end speed and lots of pulling power.
-Independent Rear Suspenssion - Good Soft ride.
- 10 Inches of Travel in all 4 wheels.
- Adjustable ride shocks.
-2 Inch reciever hitch - Lot's of uses for external hook ups.
-Locking Diff - with a low range tran, and 4 wheel lock you won't get stuck.
-Most Rack Capacity - Compare the size of the racks to Honda, it not even close.
-Most pulling power.
-Built in Floor Boards - Extra on most other bikes
-Standard Stick Stoppers - Extra on most other bikes.
- 3 Year Warranty including the accesories
- MRP Rack system is really nice to add additional tools.
- Cost for mine bought June of this year $5,562.93 out the door.

Pics of my 4wheeler compared to a Bayoo 220.

The Suzuki 700 King Quad is an awesome Bike. We put 5000 plus miles one one this summer. No signs of age, but it was only 4 months old. FAST, BEST RIDE, LOTS OF POWER, but can't speak for it at pulling trailers and such. King Quad also is also fuel injected. No cold start.
Rubicon, Grizzly and Rhino's are all worth the money, too.

I've never heard a complaint about a honda.

I thought the same thing about the ES until a friend who needed some cash badly sold me his. I really like the electric shift. I'm told it is nothing more than a solenoid turning the manual shift shaft for you.

I own a 300 fourtrax and a Rancher 4x4, and I love both of them. They are the most durable machines I've ever owned, and I am hard on equipment.

Your mileage may vary.

i've never owned nothing but a honda, but the newer ones just aren't as good as the 99 models and older.. they're gradually becoming pieces of $#!+.. i went from a 450 to a rancher and have now gotten smart and went back to the old 300...... put a lift, 27 vamps and knock off the back brake drum and wham.. you got a dog that'll hunt.. anyhoo... far as buying a new one.. i'd seriously look into the kawasaki .. i know a couple of folks i hunt with have them.. and they're the most durable "new" atv i've seen.. my 2 cents

My buddy's ES system just went out on his honda for some reason. As for not liking the ES, kinda hard to hold a beer, shift and throttle.

Perfect Rack!!!!

Postby stitch » Mon Nov 07, 2005 6:19 pm

Honda Foreman. My only reccomendation is get a manual shift or automatic....it's hard to hold a beer and shift gears with the electric shift.

Racks - I have designed / built what I believe is the perfect rack for 4 wheeler / duck hunters. I will try to figure out how to post a pic.....

HONDA HONDA HONDA!!!
Have had honda 300s since 1990 and when they quit making them I went to foreman 450S. Best bikes made! Put over 4000 hard farm miles on each one per yer and never have a lick of trouble other than they keep getting stolen!

That is the only problem I've got with mine.

HONDA RANCHER ES 4X4. I just bought one friday, front and rear racks warn winch 5100.00. Thats all you need and you can save that extra cash. Loads up in my SWB GMC perfectly (tail gate up). If you could see what my buddy does with his on his rice field you would do just what I did and go get one. I have seen his go through freezing water up to the gas tank. sit there for hours and crank and run with no problem. Look at how many old big reds are still going and that says it all. Not to mention for an extra 400.00 you can get a 48 mth warranty no deductible and all replacement parts are honda not some after market crap.

GC, I have a 350 Yamaha Bruin 4x4. It has the same frame as the larger Grizzly, but is more economical in price. It has an auto transmission that is geared primarily for the low end, which is what you use most often when hunting. No having to manually shift gears. Simple press of button takes it in and out of 4 wheel drive. Put racks on the front and back, so I have plenty of space to haul gear. Put a simple 2 inch ball on the receiver to pull a small trailer with. Just put gas in it and go. Has separate oil reservoir, which I check every now and then. It has good ground clearance, so it stays above the junk. It is light enough to manhandle some to get out of a jam (although I have not been stuck yet). It is small enough to ride on a small trailer or in the back of a pickup. It cranks easily and has a very comfortable ride (even for a 6'2" 240 lb guy like me). The dark green color requires no chaps, etc to hide it. I plan to use a simple inexpensive camo cover to hide it on the edge of fields, etc. Got the entire package for less than $5k.

This 4 wheeler is so easy to operate and maintain, even an attorney can do it.

I would go with the polaris sportsman 500. It comes with great power, great ground clearence, great ride, it will out pull any honda made and out ride it and go through more mud, the hondas lose a lot of power to the tires because of their transmission, atv magazine says that honda is living in the dark ages and everyones else has past them with technology, the polaris is easy to use, it has on demand 4-wheel drive so you can put it in 4-wheel drive the day you get it and never have to worry about it again, and it is true 4-wheel drive unlike honda, polaris are great for going through water, which is a weak spot for the yamahas, polaris also comes with a fully weilded entire length meatal skid plate, also if you look at the components of a polaris they are made stronger than any other atv, they have really come a long way in the past 5 years, can pull any tires you want to put on them. I have a polaris and i am always pushing people out of holes when they are stuck all kinds of atvs, just ask ntzhunter
