Hello, and a question

Postby GordonGekko » Wed Aug 08, 2001 9:56 am

Well, first of all I wanted say, hello I think you guys have a great mb and I hope I can contribute a little here and there. Secondly, I will be getting into the puppy training thing (should be getting a ylf in October), and I would like to know if there are any trainers you guys could recommend in the North Miss area, the closer to Columbus the better. I want to do most of the work myself but I don't want to screw her up, so some local guidance would be nice (plus I may not be able to take as much time with her as I want to, due to job changes), Thanks.

Welcome to the board Gordon. I've heard that Reggie Swann is very good, don't know for sure though as he's never done any training for me. He is located behind the Prairie Pointe Chevron just off of Hiway 82. I have met Reggie and he seems to be a nice guy.

Gordon and Ringbill,

I live in Starkville and have been looking for a couple of people to train dogs with. I am on my first dog(6 mo. old black lab) and trying to learn the ropes. I'm getting to the point where I need a couple of people to really progress.

Well this might be out of your way, but Charlie Moody in Louisville is a great trainer. He had trained a lot of Master Hunters and has been doing it for quite some time now. He has a lot of equipment and makes sure that your dog gets the more than the attention that it needs.

Hey Gordy, i know reggie swann in columbus. i would reccomend him, he knows what he's doing. but he does use "the collar". once you start with it, it can become a necessity. if you don't mind the expense and the hassle i guesss it's ok. good luck

I really appreciate all of the responses, thanks ya'll. I'll probably stop by and talk to Reggie Swann. I'm not sure how I feel about "the collar" yet. I know it is effective, I just don't want to have to use it permanently. Charlie Moody is definitely an option, I may look him up before I decide what to do. My father-in-law is an experienced trainer, and he can help some but he lives in La.

Ringbill and Drake, thanks for the offers, I'll probably be in touch in a few months, my pup won't be picked up until October so I have got a ways to go before starting, but I very well may take ya'll up on the offer. Thanks.

Gordon
