Lower Bearing on Mud Buddy Longtail

I have a 21 hp Mud Buddy Longtail 2003 model that I bought brand new, and the lower bearing is leaking grease pretty bad. I am assuming it is the seal gone bad. Has anyone else had this problem. My paperwork says that the lower bearing has a limited lifeime warrenty on it. I hope it is covered by warrenty, no telling what that bearing cost.

Call Bert Fleming in Greenwood. I had the samething happen to my Go-Devil. I do know he has fixed just about every make and model of mud motor there is. Bert's number at Greenwood Nursery is 453-2402.
BTW if there is any huntable water in the lake bottom this year, I would like to swap a hunt if you are interested.

those seals are actually pretty easy to replace, just order you a new seal from mudbuddy. The only difficult thing is getting the prop off, once its off, its easy as he!!

Yes it is a fairly easy fix. I have had to replace mine twice. If your prop is in good shape you don't even need to take the prop off. Just loosen the set screw at the U joint and then work the shaft out of the frame. IF you have problems doing this you can make a ram by getting a 3/4"collar and screwing it onto the end of the shaft by the prop. Then put a piece of all thread into the collar. Then get a piece of lead pipe and put it on the all thread, then a nut on the end of the all thread. Make sure the pipe is small enough so you can slide it over the all thread. Then just whack the pipe into the nut and it will work the shaft right out of there. Once you get the shaft out you just loosen the bottom collar on you bearing. Keep in mind I am pretty sure the bottom piece is reverse threaded so righty loosey, lefty tighty. Then just replace the bearings and seals or just seals and put it back together and whamo you have a mud buddy ready to go. It is really pretty easy to do, heck I am an eye doctor with absolutely no fix it in me at all and I did all the work in about three hours. PM me if you have more questions.
