I was looking for Duck Nawteek. When he answered, he said that they were going to roast a pig during their dove hunt. How many of you boys and girls have been to a wake for a pig? Long long ago, when I was in college, there use to be a good one at Mansura, La. Now, they knew how to put a pig in the ground. I want some of you to tell me some pig stories.
Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

Been To A Wake?
Been to one for a young goat, too. Sounds gross, ate pretty darn good. Or it could have been all the beer.

Been To A Wake?
They have a big hog roast on Labor day on the Ross Barnet Reservoir on Flag Island. Dont know about the wake but they have a funeral. All the boats gather at Ratliffs Ferry and line up in a single file line as the hog is taken to the sand bar, usually over a 100 boats,Its a site to see, weve even escorted them in the patrol boats before.

My parents and some friends started one back several years ago. Eight couples got together and put in about 200 bucks per couple. That buys the pig, kegs, and band. They start cooking the hog (around 300-350 lbs) on Friday night and have a live band. They cook that piggy all night and the next day on hickory until about 2:00. Each couple invites 8 other couples and each brings two covered dishes. If you like cold beer great BBQ and some wonderful sides this is a great party.
