Light loads in a Browning A5

Postby DoublePslayer » Tue Oct 18, 2005 6:52 am

Which way should I turn the rings. I shot my dads dove hunting this weekend, but it wouldn't eject the shells. He said they had to be in there the right way or it wouldn't cycle.

Flat surface of one friction ring against the spring.
and
One bronze friction brake against the bevel of the friction ring.

You should be able to take the barrel off and remove the top three parts; the bronze friction brake first and the two back to back friction rings.

A couple of my A-5's have a sticker on the mag. tube that show you. Have you looked to see?

If it is the 2 3/4" chamber, then put the friction ring at the bottom of the tube, below the spring with the bevel turned down for light loads and just the opposite for heavy loads.

You can download an owners manual from Browning's website but it's a rather large file for dial-up connection. It's buried under the "safety" section then at the bottom within the "historic" firearms.

"Historic", wow, hated to see the humpback disco'd.
