Quick Question

Postby Chuckle » Sun Apr 21, 2002 10:05 pm

I was wondering when is the best time to plant for doves (sunflower, wheat, etc.)?
We have a farm (cattle) that we hunt w/ some success, but we would like to plant some plots for dove this summer. Last year we had some birds w/o much planted food (wheat thrown out), but this year we want to do a little more. We have all the equipment and experience to plant, just not the knowledge to plant for doves!!!

Any help would be appreciated... and yes I know it is a little early, but I have to have something to occupy my mind (and hands).

Millet...90 days to maturity
Milo and Sunflowers..110 days I think.
Wheat..won't grow in the summer.
I try and have them ready 2 weeks b4 season..so plant accordingly...Sunflowers should probably be planted within the next 3 weeks.
