Moultrie feeder results.....

Postby judge jb » Mon Apr 15, 2002 8:51 pm

with my feeders out only two months i enjoy each morn or eve with great pride... the deer haven't jumped on this plan, but the turkeys, dove and better yet, the Quail have taken great interest in this food assisting program... mixture of corn and soybeans have done well... i kinda like to watch em more than take em...{no, i ain't a tree hugger } the only difference now than before is that i don't smell gun-powder but like to watch em go for some one else... may start a banding program of my own....haha.... help the wildlife you prefer and enjoy.... just keep an eye on the predators who learn your feeder as well...

Hey judge you might want to try a little scratch feed or cracked corn mixed in with your beans and corn. From our findings the quail and even the turkeys prefer the smaller diameter of seed when the corn is cracked. Also, I read that the soybeans are much higher in protein than the corn, can you confirm this for me? We have always fed deer with corn but I would rather give them more protein if indeed the beans are better.

Judge, any covey / school / pack / herd / group / family of game listed above that you need thinning out.... just let me know. My 13 y/o son would be more than willing to assist you.... even in the preditor area. Football / girls / church / hunting & fishing.... he thinks that those are the only things in life.
