I'm pretty new to this, so I have a couple of questions. Is it worth turkey hunting in the rain? Don't have time to hunt very often, and it's supposed to be coming down in buckets this weekend. My second question is if you do go in the rain, does the same strategy apply, or should I adopt some "rain tactics?" Thanks guys.

Mottlet,
I am by no means an expert, but I usually don't hunt in the rain. However, I know people that do and they seem to kill a bird occasionally. If you can be ready when it stops raining, that is a good time to go. Don't try to hunt them in thick woods though. Turkeys head for openings after the rain. They usually go for fields or openings in the timber. They don't like to brush up against wet stuff in the woods.
Good luck

turkey question
Turkey hunting in the rain can be successful. Just because it is raining doesnt mean the birds are foing to go dormant. They probably won't gobble but they are still there. In my experience when it is rainy or windy turkeys head to the fields or more open timber.
Setting up on a field where you know turkeys frequent even in the rain can work well.
That is just my two cents. I always try to rationalize hunting in bad conditions by telling myself that I am sure not going to kill anything is I am not out trying.

turkey question
Last year I had one of my best hunts ever in the rain, hunted a field and heard seven birds gobble, and killed one after four hours of having birds in front of me, it was amazing, I never expected to hear them gobble, but they did and it was an awesome hunt, before that I didn't believe in hunting in the rain.

Judge,
Do you look like that guy (that always gets struck by lightning) running on that John Candy movie. You know the one where the bear gets shot in the booty.

turkey question
This past weekend was our opening weekend here in TN. We had quite a bit of rain, fog, etc... Probably one of the worst weekends for "ideal" turkey hunting conditions. However, My dad, brother, and myself all three got birds on Saturday morning. This is a feat we have never been able to do and may not ever again. On Sunday I harvested another big tom, and it was in the rain. Weather wise the weekend was not a perfect one but hunting wise I couldn't ask for more.
