Flying decoys??

Postby Doc & Nash » Sat Mar 30, 2002 7:20 pm

Have ya'll seen these? No Duckmen they do not require batteries. They are the perfect robo duck imitation. They are a regular plastic decoy molded as if it were buzzing your spread or just about to land. They come in pairs. Know I would not normally buy somehting like this but you see I found a gift certificate that Mallardtails gave me for being in his wedding about 3 yrs ago. So I though I might ought to use it.

No this is a molded plastic decoy just like the regular dekes but it is molded as if it were landing. Go to Cabelas and check them out.

Flying decoys??

Yeah, they've been around for a couple o' years. My take on stuff like this is that, in all actuality, they probably lure more hunters than ducks. (No, I don't have any credible data to support that theory.)

What we strive for (with our decoy spread), is something natural looking.....that doesn't include the appearance of a duck that's been impaled on a stick in mid-flight.......especially considering the point of entry.

When the 'Fatal Deducktion' first appeared, I reasoned 'Fatal'....when wife finds out her husband spent $200 on a duck-on-a-stick that can't find a place to land.

What about those Avery 'Wave-Makers'?......unless your batteries are 'bout worn-out, the period of the ripples is too frequent.....making the waves too close together. 'Sorta resembles a duck attempting to dislodge his feet from some really gooy mud.

There was another gadget that resembled a duck trying to free its head from the jaws of an alligator.....'don't remember what it was called......must've been some variation of the motorized duck butt.

Oh yeah......remember the one that looked like a duck in acute, gastrointestinal distress. It has the distinction of a multi-convulsive function combined with an obvious loss of vertical orientation. 'Ran off a bilge pump and a car battery (requires a desired length of #10 wire......just what every duck hunter needs to lug around).....'think it was called the 'Pulsator' (not necessarily a term one would readily ascribe to normal duck physiology).

Lemme go get my Cabelas catalog...... maybe I'll submit some more product reviews......this is fun!

Hey, that reminds me.......'saw a video that instructed me on which hand to hold my duck call with......learn somethin' everyday, don't ya?
