First Turkey!!

Postby luckyduck » Thu Mar 28, 2002 10:46 pm

Got my first Turkey this morning!
20 lbs.
11 3/4 inch beard
(1) 1 inch spur
First bird to call in. First year to really get into Turkey Hunting b/c of School/Baseball. WOW! Heard 4 gobbling. What a way to start. The only down side is I let my dad shoot instead. HaHa! I think I was more excited for him than I would have been for myself, but don't get me wrong I was very, very excited. That was his first Turkey as well. Wonderful, Wonderful experience. Wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Ps. Yes the bird only had one spur! The other one was broken off.

Congratulations Luckyduck, Dont worry about the killing part it will come with time. I believe I like calling one up and watching a first timer shoot at the bird more than anything. Took a first timer the last 2 mornings we didn't kill a bird but yesterday he got to here a few. I believe that hooked him, hopefully we can get one up for him by the end of the season.

Congrats that is a great bird. Keep it up. I think I am going to venture out and try my luck up here this evening.

You coming up this weekend. I will be here and I happen to know that the birds are gobbling there damn heads off and I believe we need to take their heads off for them.

Hotty Totty,
I am not sure if I am going to make it there this weekend. If it is up to you know who, I will be there. If I do, we will definately have to chase those long beards. I went this morning and heard one gobble but it found the hens before I could get close. It didn't gobble until sometime after 7. Oh well. I am seeing a few though.
