For those of us who have to work during the week thanks a whole bunch for rubbing it in our faces. Just kidding congratulations and I hope your season holds up. Our season here in TN doesn't start until this Saturday and it looks like we are going to get rain all weekend.

Sorry Junior! At least you can keep that mental picture I gave you in your head. Looks like the weather is going to be bad here this weekend too. I am going to try again tomorrow and hopefully make our luck 4 for 4. Keep your head up. It will get right soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thrasher, we looked for your truck today. Never saw you. All you would have seen of that Toyota early this morning was a gray flash. We were moving!!! I think Larry the Cable Guy CD is our good luck charm.

I dont know much about turkey hunting but I went for my first time this morning with a buddy that knew what he was doing and had a GREAT time! We heard 3 or 4 different birds but none that we thought were gonna be close enough. While trying to locate one, 2 coyotes wondered up on us so we decide to put the decoy out and try to lure in the coyotes. The first time my buddy yelped on his call we heard a Tom about 200 yards away. 2 minutes later it came out into the field about 250 yards away and came within 5 yards from the decoy in less than 5 minutes and we were back at the truck by 6:40. I got my first turkey, it had about an 8" beard, it was quite an experience!Cant wait to go back.

Jay, if you are married, your wife is going to want to kick your friend in the butt. Turkey hunting is the most addictive hunting I have ever tried. First time the turkey answers your call, you are hooked. Good luck and keep trying to go with someone who knows and is willing to teach you. That is the best way to learn.

BB,
I was hunting on the national forest this morning. I left my house @ 4 A.M. We rode our bikes about 5 miles to get to our spot. My buddy killed a nice bird @ 6 A.M. That was the fastest hunt I have ever been on. So unless you guys got out early I was gone before you came through.....

This has been one of the best first weeks of turkey season ever. My buddy and I went to that same place again this morning. We heard seven different birds again. He called up 1 and killed it -9 1/4" beard. I called up two jakes and two young gobblers. The last two had probably 7" - 9" beards. Just couldn't bring myself to shoot a smaller bird after the good one Sunday. There are still a couple of good sounding birds out there that will flat out come to a call. Gonna go try again in the morning. Between the two of us that is 3 hunts, 3 birds killed, 10 gobblers seen.

You just gotta love hunting a turkey.
