dd, you mentioned you was at lakeview the other day. i havent been there this year due to my dog making lunch out of the wiring in my boat, but i re-wired it this weekend so i am ready to go now. anyways my question. is the lake level up any from last year with all the rain we have gotten this year. it has been terrible low the last couple of years. an extra five or six would make things nice. i dont know who controls that gate at the end of the runout but seems like they always got it open, not holding any water in the lake.

well, we made it back into mud lake without any problem whatsoever. If you can remember in the past couple of years or so to get back there you had to get out and push your boat, well not now. I can't say how much higher it is, because I simply have nothing to judge it by since I don't go there that often, but it is a little higher than last year for sure. It could be 6" higher or it could be 2' higher not sure...hope this has been some help.

I find that usually after the spring rains time is limtied when you can get into Mud or Cocklebur, or the runout for that matter, after the summer starts. Of course much depends on the Ms River stage.

I'm not aware of any "gate" that controls the runout, I think its free flowing. I know there has been talk of constructing a wier for Tunica Lake, but not Lakeview.

thanks dutch. ill check it out in a day or two. if you can get into mud without pushin', it is up some. hey cap, yeah they built a dam across the runout at lakeview quite a few years ago. you every feel like riding it is about a ten minute putt. when you get to the end of the runout where the dam is there is a chute off to the right with a concrete structure and on top of the hill is a gate valve. i have been there and water was running through to the other side of the damn on down the runout to the river. other times there was no water running through. last year when the river came up to its highest rise, there was water coming through the other way into the runout and the lake. i dunno. the weir at tunica is a done deal, according to my sources. they are waiting for it to dry out a bit to start construction, which will most likely begin this spring or summer.

Goes to show you how long its been since I made that putt, thanks for the heads up.

Looks like the river will be on a quick rise this week. Maybe some water will go into Flower and raise the level there. Been a long time for Flower.
