a funny story about our trip to tx

Postby Dutch Dog » Wed Mar 13, 2002 11:31 am

we went out the first afternoon and "corned" the area we were going to hunt the following day. after corning and looking at several hogs/javelina we returned to camp. we bought one of those moultry "tailgaiter" feeders just for this trip. anyway, to save time in the morning we left the feeder attached to the receiver hitch half full of corn. about 1:30 am we were awoke by BAM.....TSHHHHHH....BAM.....TSHHHHH.....BAM.....TSHHHHH. There was a hog that was head butting the corn feeder knocking corn out onto the ground. apparently he had been there for quite a while because our feeder was empty and the ground as well as the shroud around the spreader was covered in hog slobber. Needless to say we made sure that we pulled the feeder out of the hitch the next night.

If you do decide to go, I can post a link to terraserver which shows the ranch from an aerial photograph point of view. This is extremely helpful if you go down there as far as telling things apart as everything down there looks the same from the ground.

Hey dutch dog how long did it take to get there and about how much was your total on the trip and did they charge a trophy fee? Would they consider a group discount? Not to say that the price you quoted is expensive because that's pretty cheap.

it took us 13 hours to drive from the most northern part of mississippi there is, plus we had to swing out of the way a bit to pick up one of the fellas in our party. No trophy fee and no, I'm sorry, there was no group discount that we were aware of and some years that we went down there, there have been as many as 15 of us. All total I knocked a dent in $500 but that includes my share of the corn feeder...$125.00. I have eaten 3 times so far off the hogs I killed and let me tell you what those things are excellent table fare!!!
