What does it cost to have a field bushhogged?

Postby jdphish » Mon Jul 25, 2005 9:30 am

Can anyone help? I need a forty acre field bushhogged(just grass and thick weeds).

I wondered what people have paid to have something like this done.

Maybe some of you do that kind of work, what do you charge?

Do you pay by the hour, by the acre, or by the job?

Thanks to anyone with time to answer this.

I charge $10 an acre for CRP, but this is with bushes and saplings in it. If its just grass maybe $8.....too far for me anyhow, just giving you an estimate.

I think $10/acre is a bit cheap. I get around $15 in the Raymond area.

I had a Yankee friend move down here several years ago. He kept seeing these people in teh ER who had "bushhog" injuries. For several months he was concerned that there was a wild animal called a bushhog that attacked people. Scared to go out at nigh he was   8)

get a written price quote in writing (written agreement). we get 3 miles of levee mowed for $600 from a reputable vendor that has the right equipment and charges $50 per hour. Consider: I've seen 5 ft equipment that would take DAYS to accomplish some mowing projects. Buddy of mine was going to do teh site prep mow his self until it took him all day to mow 3 acres! Hell, they make home depot mowers that are 4 feet! Think about: your operator will drive 8712 feet per acre mowed.
