Since he signed a contract, it's guaranteed as far as getting his money, but doesn't give him a spot on the active roster. 1st rounders get a guaranteed contract without even having to sign, set amount of money, whereas 2nd rounders have to play their tails off to get a contract and make the squad. As bad as Memphis' rebounding has been, I seen no problems with Roberts making the squad.

Memphis Defeats Dallas In NBA Action at the SPL

LONG BEACH, Calif, July 12, 2005 – Memphis forward Hakim Warrick posted his second double-double of the summer as the Grizzlies (3-0) defeated the Dallas Mavericks (0-4), 108-99 Tuesday afternoon in NBA action at the Summer Pro League. Warrick finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Grizzlies improved to 3-0 – the only still-undefeated NBA team at the SPL.

Memphis’ Lawrence Roberts was the day’s high-scorer with 31 points against the Mavericks. He hit 13 of 14 shots from the free-throw line… Errick Craven scored two points for the Mavs, bringing his summer NBA total to four points… Memphis also shot 51.8% from the field as a team. Roberts also had 15 rebounds.
