Well, it finally happened...

It blew for about a week straight here then finally - snow, wind and cold! About 4" I would say. The wind blew up a few drifts better than a foot and it has been in the teens here with wind chills closer to zero. The crazy thing is, I went bass fishin' on Sunday in just a sweatshirt.

All this good huntin' weather got me thinkin' about past season so I figured I would post a few links to some pictures.

Damn Yankee -

Yer goin the wrong way. I have hunted Senachwine but this is closer to Havana.

Bull -

I admit it, I try and get every last ounce of use from my clothes. The shirt is a hand me down from my late father, so I find a bit hard to part with em or for that matter to not wear em. The waders, well $80 canvas Hodgemans don't make my wallet hurt when they get a little torn up in the brush. I just wish someone would make a pair as tough as the old Redball waders were.

WNE,
I used to hunt that area pretty good, Grand Isle, Sanganois(sp), Beardstown, Bath, but all the trails took me back to the Goofy Ridge, Mertanza Beach, and finally to Manito Tap to drop off the ducks for Louis.

Ahhhhhh...

Louie the Ragin' Cajun with the Polish accent! LMAO

"Ey der, ow ya'll doin t'day?" LMAO

He is quite the character. In between cleanin' ducks, pheasants, rabbits, ??? and dippin minnows he'll fix ya a "cheeburger" and not even wash his hands. LMAO Great Burgers!

"Eyy, owbout a cheeburger, I tun on da lectic skillet!" Blood feathers and ??? hangin off his fingers. LMAO

Ya hear about him gettin pinched a few years back? Seems not everyone picked up their ducks at the end of season and he got caught holdin the bag.

Ya every make it to the Anchor Inn when Bill and Mary owned it? What a place! Took a buddy of mine from Pekin down there the night before a hunt on a club I was in down thataway. We had a six pack of road sodas for the ride down and he got nervous when we were each on our third as we pulled up to the Anchor. "Shouldn't we finish these out here" he says. LMAO I told him "Hell, they don't care!" And sure enough they didn't!

Help me Anchor Inn? I've been to the Anchor Inn in Anchor,Il where's this one?

I took a friend into Louis' and he was admiring the differant boxes of feathers he keeps to take up North and sell to fish lure manufactorors. Well there was one box my buddy didn't recognize so we call Louis over point to the box and ask Louis what they were.
Louis looks in the box and looks at us and says "feathers" dead seriously and walks away...
That is still one of all time favorite hunting memories.

The Anchor Inn is on Quiver Beach Road. Quiver Beach Road is a RH turn off of Manito Blacktop, just S of the bridge over Quiver Creek.

When I was in the club down there, one of the owners had a cabin we all stayed at in Buzzville (the low rent section of Goofy Ridge LMAO). Buzzville is just down the road (North) from Chatauqua headquarters but before you got to Gudat's, Mallard Club Bar and Goofy Ridge proper.

I swear, at times I heard "Duelin' Banjos" in the background down there LOL.

Those Soggy Bottom Boys must be a die-hard bunch. Hunting in chest waders and short sleeve T-shirt. I think I stayed home that day and washed the truck.

And I'm sure that I missed out on thousands of Mallards - banded ones - double banded - with radio collars, doing the tornado thing over my favorite blind.
