Major Change To Delta National Forest Proposed
Quackers just an old dumb country boy from the delta that thinks there's more to this wilderness act. If it's so great why has this guy been pushing this for over 5 years and very few people have heard about. How about lets try to slide it by the dumb ol'e delta folks so we can control the land and nobody can touch yea this is a great thing.

Over 50 documents have been published on this since 1998.
You ever tried to push legislation... I didn't think so
No one tried to slide anything over anyone. People come to meeting only when they think something is getting taken away and it's people such as yourself that starts the rampage.
People who have attended the meeting were possitive when they left with the few exceptions of those guys that manage the resource now.
dumb ol'e delta folks huh,
The guys I know from the Delta are pretty bright with the exception to a few and I won't call any names...

Yea it survived all those years without the flood control structures that are in place now. It used to be the water flowed on through now man can hold as long as he wants I know this because my camp floods but the 2.5 million dollar structures they put in to help with the flooding of duck holes for MS that we payed for with tax dollars would just sit there a fall apart great use of are money, and if you did not know people did trap beavers for money along time ago probably before your time MS.

IT has been a while since I have actually read a topic from beginning to end on this forum. Most of what is on here is not worthy of reading, not that this is either but to see MSDuckmen take it so easy on the new guy is just to much.

Sad thing here tsbadb is that we could lose it all tomorrow and for a number of reasons that could come up.
I don’t sit around and worry about what can happen I move on making it happen. I go to as many meeting as I can to understand where our state is going. Don’t think for a minute that if a major organization wanted to develop that area that money wouldn’t drive the decision.
Money is what drives our ability to hunt as much as we can now. It is big business in Mississippi.
You want to make a difference then make the meeting and stop listening to others that have interest in not allowing things to happen. People don’t like change. I for one.
I want things as close to pure as possible.
There are people on this site that will tell you that I have stood up for and promoted the user fees for state WMA’s in Mississippi. Yep that’s a fact.
I also push for coon hunting on WMA’s until 1 hour before sunrise. Hmmm I don’t even coon hunt.
I also agreed with the cross bow during gun season and the black powder cart. Guns for muzzle loading.
It is important to me that we have land set aside that the government has limited control over. Otherwise legislation can along with money use the land for profit.

Oh yeah...coordinates please...(just to verify)...
Well, I don't use a GPS, so I got no clue as to the coordinates. But I can tell you how to get there. Get out of the truck and walk into the woods. Walk a mile and take a left at the big oak. Walk another mile and hang a sharp right at the fallen log. Don't worry, you're almost there now. When you get to the three big cypress trees, figger out which way the wind is blowing and go a quarter of mile upwind. Throw out your decoys and get ready.

mottlet
I JUST SPOKE WITH DAVIS MOUNGER. HE SAID THAT THE HUNTING, FISHING, ETC. WOULD NOT BE EFFECTED. THE ACT JUST RESTRICTS THE USE OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES. AND IT'S NOT 21000 ACRES. IT'S 8-10000 ACRES AROUND THE 6 MILE BAYOU/6 MILE BAYOU TRAIL. IT'LL WILL PROTECT IT FROM LOGGING AND SUCH. ASSUME'N I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE TRUTH ????THEN I'M FOR IT. HELL I HAVE TO WALK MILES ANYWAY IF I GO IN THERE.. WHATS ANOTHER MILE OR TWO GONNA HURT. IN MY EYES IT'LL PROBABLY THIN OUT ABOUT 95% OF THE HUNTERS !!! I'M GONNA DO SOME MORE CHECK'N INTO IT AND I'LL POST UP NEW INFO. IF ANYONE WANTS THE EMAIL FROM HIM EMAIL ME AND I'LL SHOOT YOU A COPY.

Guys I'm getting all of this through a news paper article out of Rolling Fork, MS were Mr. Mounger first said 5 to 6,000 acers then told another group 7 to 9,000 acers the 21,000 came from the forest service. On the ride home today I thought about mine and MS's debate and I guess this it what bothers me the most, I know in which the way things are now at least we do have a little say in what goes on in DNF but if these organzations take over from the info i got from the Forest Service they(Serria Club and Mr. Moungers group) have total control to regulate as they see fit and to me and alot of others this is wrong and will never fly here in the delta(Sharkey County) if anybody knows more about how and who will regulate it please let us all know. Also I want to state I'm 100% agianst motorized access by hunters on land not water but I'm for logging and up keep of the forest by state and federal officals.

That is truly where we differ. DNR is the last "LAST" of the natural old growth hardwood forest left in the country to my understanding. It is my understanding that the only reason that is. Is because the president made it a national forest to protect it against timber interest. Double R2 knows more about that than me but to allow any timber removal is in my opinion a huge mistake.
Many of these guys that run those forest are fine people and many are very, very intelligent. But there are those that will use the resource for their own gain. Putting it under the wilderness Act will protect it from just such a thing. It will still be managed but not manipulated.
