Major Change To Delta National Forest Proposed
Important info guys looks like we could lose up to 21,000 acers in the Sunflower Wildlife Management Area !!! This so called Friends of Mississippi Public Lands led by Davis Mounger is trying to get the south end of the forest put into some kind of so called Wilderness Area which means they want to cut out all motorized vehicle use in this area witch includes Forest Roads 720, 721,710B and 703D also Mud Lake Trail ,Spanish Fort Trail , Six Mile Trail, Bayou Trail, Willow Lake Trail, Little Sunflower Trail, and South Greentree Reservoir also stated in another artical no motorized boat motors in the Little Sunflower River. The Sierra Club is the push behind all of this and if we let them get thier foot in the door down the road hunting and fishing could be out also. I talked to Bobby Hoddnet this morning and he's the game warden there, and he's leaning this way also. We need to do everything we can to keep this from happing there is a petition going around to block this if you see it please sign it also you can contact

I wonder if we could get the Sierra Club to add banning horses to their list of things to ban in this new wilderness area. That would help DNF out tremendously.

Got some more info last night all this stuff, it's going through the Forestry Service you need to contact Stephanie Allison(Delta National Wildlife Biologist) or Larry Moore(District Ranger) in Rolling Fork,MS 662-873-6256. Bobbie is thinking like me and everybody else if they get in at some point in time hunting & fishing will be out.

Seems to me that that fine man Larry Moore(District Ranger) being the hunter he is hasn't helped to stop this.
Since he took over as District Ranger for Delta many things have come to pass that has made it less inviting to hunters. Fees have been created, The horses have taken over, most trails are closed and the roads are crap. They trapped all the beaver out killing dozens of good duck holes. He don't care cause he hunts private land near Panther.
When you start letting local people control federal lands they tend to focus only what is important to them and lets the other users go to the way side.

This is not about duck holes this about hunting in general let the Sierra Club have their way and we want have to worry about wether there are duck holes or not because you won't be in there in the first place. I have a camp on the south end of DNF and the roads and hunting are great, I go down there at least twice a month the roads are in great shape but if these tree-huggers get there way it won't matter because nobody will be on them anyway. I talked to Stephine this morning and what we should be worried about is if this passes they(Sierra Club) gets the 21,000 acers who's to say they want try to get more hell lets let them have it all, then we can all stand around with our cameras and take pictures of whats left of the wildlife!!
Larry can't stop this there is a Panel that takes all this into consederation looks at the impact this will have on the land and wildlife. IF there is no kind of up keep of the forest it go to hell. These people(Sierra Club) don't won't any kind of up keep just leave it alone with the flooding that goes on this would be devaststing to the timber and the wildlife.

Works for me, Because it is about duck hunting and any other hunting that exist. If we lose any then I say let them take it all.
It should stop a bunch of the theives from running through there and those ya-hoos on the horses running the woods like a bunch of cowboys.
Delta has it's moments but they are getting fewer and fewer under the present administration.
MS I hunt about 40 days in DNF on the South end a year I have never had people on horses mess up my hunting so are you for the Sierra Club taking the land. Doesn't sound like you much of a hunter but I forgot you live in Jackson not in the delta were people stand up to "Gosh Darnit" tree-huggers that don't know $#!+ about woods or wildlife I've always heard you city folk are usually the first to give in.
