What kind of dog food do you guys use? Do any of you have any recomendations? Are there any advantages with one brand vs another? Just curious.

Its not the amount of birds its the quality of the hunt.

Purina!!!!!!! It is the best all around dog food by far. There are so many versions to fit any kind of dog.

Purina ProPlan or Purina One. With some of the cheaper brands you will find yourself feeding more to achieve the desired resutls.

personally, I use Iams, I know it cost a little more but with the higher protien and less additives it actually last longer and there is less waste to clean up in the yard. I think it and Eukanuba, are the two that are recommended by most vets, I use to feed Purina Dog Chow but the dog would go throught a 40 lb bag in 2 weeks and I would have a trash barrel full of waste in one week, That is why I switched.

I feed Purina One. My vet suggested it as well. I 40 lb. bag usually lasts 4-5 weeks....although I'm feeding her more now since she is pregnant.

Eukanuba maintenance when off season and then performance when in training for shows or hunting season. I start them on it 2 weeks before I think they are going to need it. you can see a big difference in their energy levels. The Eukanuba with Omega 5 for their coats is unbeliveable. It makes their coats like duck backs, water just beads off. Their coats are shinny and healthy. I get complements on them all the time. It may cost a little more, but it is worth it. Just remember one rule, you will always get out of a dog what you put in it, and protein is not all that matters!

Purina Pro Plan or Purina 1... Tried a lil of the Euknuba performance, but dogs seem to git a lil 'loose' on that. Gonna go back to pro plan. I feed a performance food year round, cept for the VERY HOTTEST part of the summer. travis

I'm a big fan of Maximum nutrition from Wal Mart. Around here all the vets recommend Hill's science diet, and Maximum Nutrition is almost identical to it at half the price. It has exactly the same ingredients in exactly the same amounts except for blood meal, of which it has none. The blood meal in Hill's just makes the poop really soft and REALLY foul! No blood meal equals NO stink and poop that is as hard as a rock (easy clean up). From what I hear the blood meal has little or no nutritional value.

I used to buy some generic high protein food from a co-op in Louisiana. It had almost the same make up as ProPlan or some other top shelf foods.` Now all fido gets is Purina which is mighty fine. For a bit of extra shine and protein I add some bacon or hamburger grease every once and a blue moon. A friend added a few tablespoons of cooking oil to his dogs food everyday or so. Talk about shine. However you could hear the dogs arteries clogging if you listened real close.

I fed dat maxx nutrition for over a year. it was good stuff. They changed the way the food looked, and it was hard to keep finding the performance food, so I got scared of them changing it around so went back to proplan. But I had excellent results on it. travis

Enhance Endurance.
This stuff is hard to find, but if you can, it is tops. Check your local co-op or feed and seed.
