Meeting in Oxford (Delta Waterfowl)

Postby timber-hunter » Thu Feb 14, 2002 7:53 am

Had a very informative meeting in oxford at the five oaks grocery last night. John Devney did a great job in presenting what delta does for the ducks. This organization is entirely out for the benefit for the ducks and and also the hunters. Not only do they work with the hunters but they take it one step further they work with the private landowners and the farmers. What one thing that really stuck with me last night was they don't sit behind a calculator all day long hoping that the chapter in tupelo is going to bring in more net money that they
brought in last year. They are out in the field trying to find ways to make the sport that we love so much benefit us. I am saying all of this to say one very important statement you don't have to quit DU, but you need to join Delta waterfowl. You get more bang for your buck!!! You can actually go to a site and physically see where your money is going. So come on and lets get something going!!! Lets make it better!! Lets give so that we and our children will appreciate what we did in the field and not what we did in the office on a piece of paper!!! If you want to get involved e-mail me or get into touch with H20Fowl or Gadwall2 or Webfoot. I finally got to meet these guys last night. And I know that they went to that meeting last night the same reason I did and that is to make a difference!!Come on lets get it going!!!! It was great to see you guys. I have made some plans to have window decals and some more waterfowl reports at the Jackson meeting.

Remember that we together can make a diffrence and see our money at work in the field.

I was in Oxford last night at the meeting as well. Very informative. Good job by John with DW in answering questions.

I am interested in starting a Northeast MS chapter of DW, or assisting anyone who may have already started such action.

I really believe that DW offers the best chance for us to significantly improve the duck population numbers in the shortest period of time possible. It will take some additional money for DW to carry out its mission on a large scale, but I think DW will provide very good "bang for the buck".

For those of you who still contribute to DU, as I do, please continue to do so. But, also dig a little deeper and give some $$ to DW. For those of you who dislike DU and plan no more giving, I would urge you to contribute to DW (and reconsider your position on DU).

The stronger DW gets, and the more successful its predator control, hen nesting box , adopt a pothole, etc programs prove to be, the more pressure DU will feel to make some needed changes to adopt similar approaches on its protected habitats and even work with DW on projects, all for the greater good of raising more ducks.
