Old River
how much does a judge in ark. cost ?
the hydrologist at the corp. of engineers sais that if it ever was a channel of the miss. river then it is and always will be.if actions were taken to block the public from using it then the corp. should be notified and they will investigate. doesn't the feds. override the county ?
the meander line is set on the ark. banks and rises/falls according to water level, the supreme court set the current state line in the 1920's according to my navigation maps.
we can bypass the lawyers and file an appeal in november.
i bet that if we could get some brothers that duck hunted to go hunting over there and they messed with them they could call jesse and al, maybe even benny thompson.
Headlines"RICH WHITE LAWYER SAYS BROTHERS NOT WELCOME, MUST GO ELSEWHERE TO HUNT"
million man boat ride stovall,ms.
at least they have people that will stand up for them.gotta admire that.
i have seen the ducks pour into the south side of the lake on the miss. side also, that just happens to be where the clubhouses are.
maybe we can organize an opening night ceremony the night before season opens. pull an all nighter, music, boat races, skeet shooting at midnight, barbequeing, calling competition. a friend of mines sister in law is a stripper in memphis, friendly little thing
, i bet her and her friends would love to come down and go dickhunting. a wet tee shirt contest in the middle of a lake in late november would be a priceless memory
i could make a video:
duck stamps $25
duck boat $3500
stripper blowing your duckcall while pissed off lawyer looks on priceless
for everyone else theres 1000 dollar leases for us old river. Redneck duck club
how about our very own girls gone duckwild video to raise money for a lawyer to take it out of roy beans jurisdiction and into a federal court.
get-r-done !!!

between points 1 and 2 on the Mississippi side the water runs 1.5 to 2 ft. deep. between points 2-3 the water runs 2-5 ft. deep. points 7-9 is highly vegetative, millfoil and hydrilla, and is between 1-2.5 ft. deep.(see wingmans map on page 1).just remember to stay on the mississippi side
.
if the weather gets cold enough to freeze the lake, points 2-3 will be open water for longer periods.
if it gets crowded flag each other down so you won't mess up each others hunting.

EXACTLY--because most of those rich weekend warriors don't put forth the effort in scouting, putting out a good-looking spread, or practicing their calling. they get tired of the po' boys that DO go the extra mile killing all their ducks on a level playing field, so they have to try and CHEAT. the same crap is going on across the ms. river at deer park, i'd like to see one of them TRY and make me leave on public water...he'd better have law enforcement with him is all i got to say
you did put in the plug, right?
People Please do not bash the legal profession because Mr. Lewis has chosen to make these post. Not all of us in this profession would have chosen to adress this delima in this manner.
Please by all means do not get injured and seek monetary damages from the claimed property owners that have invited you onto their land to fish. This would be poor taste and cost Mr. Lewis' client a lot of money in insurance premiums. So by all means be very careful in return for that invite.
I am curios though due to the Attorney general opiion written in Mississippi concerning private land owners that have ramps that are alowed for public use. Mike Moore stated that the ramps should be closed at all times or open to the public at all times. He stated further that the land owner woudl have grreat deifculty holding his waterway as for public use for only part of the year and not closing the ramp by means that prevent entry the rest of the year. The public would have a great burden placed upon it to recognize when the public access was terminated without sufficient barrier.
However, I think Wingman has taken care of this delima for Mr. Lewis and established that the eastern side is Mississippi public hunting. So good luck boys and kill'em! By all means please thank Mr. Lewis for notifying thousands of hunters of this new public location in the Great State of Mississippi, espicially all of our out of state guest! An special thanks go out to Wingman for those GPS cordinates!

your right big lou, it would be poor taste huh. just because their trying their best to stop us poor hunters and they have made a fortune on frivolous lawsuits themselves doesn't give anybody a reason to return the favor huh ?
that wouldn't be right for somebody like richard schwartz or law office of johnny cochran, gatti, keltner and beinvenue or any of the other hundred out there. to go after them for %40.
i've heard that the jury awards in mississippi are 1 of the highest in the country. a highway patrolman won some major $'s just 'cause wal mart hurt his feelings.
i wonder how much you could get if they tried to man handle your booty because you happen to be checking your decoys for leaks.
you made a good point there lou.

Well,
if I applied your way of thinking to all things in life then I could take for granted that all people were terrible because of the way someone else has treated me in the past. What a wonderful world this would be, huh? It seems you have a terrible chip on your shoulder for the legal profession. However, what you must keep in mind is two important facts:
1. not all attorneys are personal injury lawers, some defend these types of suits.
2. if these suits were not filed then big corps would take advantage of YOU!
I hope this helps with you attitude against the legal profession, but in case it does not then read the good book. It tells us " to treat others as we would want to be treated." Be nice to others and do not jump to silly conclusions just because of what they do for a living. Do not sterotype people by what they do to earn a living for their families....... God bless you and I hope this shines some light on your dim outlook on life!

I know what he is saying was not bashing the attorney profession. If you had that person who happens to be a lawyer block you on a public boat ramp you would be upset too. Mike Lewis took a case to the Arkansas courts to make a lake on the Mississippi side of the river private. I know that part of the lake is in Arkansas. It has public boat ramps that have been public forever. Why does Mike Lewis say that people can fish and not hunt. He is trying to take everything away from the working man duck hunters. This guy Mike Lewis who happens to be an attorney is completely absurd.
Good Point, and the former Attorney General agreed with your logic in an opion written concerning Old Mossy Lake. He stated the same thing concerning depreiving someone of one right and not the others is not correct. it shoudl be all rights allowed or none at all. If this is not the way it is handled then it becomnes confussing and missleading to the public.

i love life. i went through a divorce in which i got screwed by both attorneys. left loop holes big enough to come back and haunt me big time. then had to go back and was screwed again this time by the judge.
if i'm ever diagnosed with a terminal illness i'm going to do the world a favor and thin out the judge and lawyer ranks.
i've never met a lawyer that looks out for ME, only them.
there are some decent ones out there i'm sure but i won't hold my breath.

gyver, I feel your pain about divorce lawyers...BUT its a personal thing to you your divorce BUT just business to them and lets face it there in practice for one thing and one thing only...MONEY...if that was not the case then they would all be public defenders and offer their service for free but Food, and hunting cost money

Don't listen to this Mike Lewis character. He doesn't know what he is talking about. We have been duck hunting Old River for years. We would hunt our lease in Marvell, AR in the morning and if we didn't limit out we would hunt the rest of the afternoon at Old River. From my understanding, John Lambert from Mayfield, KY owns the biggest part of it and he gave me written permission whether I needed or not to hunt there.
IT'S PUBLIC!!!!!
