USC up 11-2 now. UT should've started their ace instead of trying to hold him for the MSU game tomorrow......dummies.

never take a win for granted in any sport, you have to get to the winners bracket first, I guess TN learned that the hard way today though.

i've seen times during tournment play where i thought it best to not start the ace.. example a couple of years ago msu hosted a regional and played middle tenn state univ.. mtsu's record was like 28 & 29... msu started maholm against those guys.. thats a good example of when maybe not to pitch your #1 guy... it cost us as we scored aroun 10 runs against mtsu and out #1 pitcher was used up for several days..

that being said the sec tournment is prolly as difficult as the omaha tourney.. prolly should have pitched hochaver or what ever his name is

We won that game 8-3. I like Polk's philosophy.....you have to win the first one before worrying about the 2nd one. Only if Bianco had heeded Polk's advice last season facing a sucky Western Kentucky team and holding Holliman out for game 2.........bad decision......lefty for WKU threw a complete game 1 hitter. The Holliman lasted only 2/3 inn in the next game.

USC 12-2

Another reason why Polk likes throwing the ace in game 1. He will also have that extra day to rest up for necessary innings in the championship game.
