Rebels Make Semis In NCAA Tennis Tournament

Ole Miss' 3rd ranked men's tennis team beat Georgia (7th) to make it to the semi-finals of the NCAA National Championships at College Station Texas where they will face UCLA (6th) Monday at 3:00pm.

this would mean a lot more if just a few of the players were actually from miss.. however and correct me if i'm wrong, i don't believe that a single player is from miss.. i think there all from overseas...

You're right. It's been a long time since many Americans, much less Mississippians really played on Ole Miss' or State's men's team. Or any other teams in the SEC (with the possible exception of Vanderbilt). It's just an unfortunate fact that if you want to compete on the national level, you have to bring in the foreign players. There just aren't that many top level Americans out there, and Stanford generally gets first shot at the ones there are.

I have no interest in a State Ole Miss battle here. Just thought some of you would be interested in a Mississippi school making it that far in an NCAA National Championship. Something that doesn't happen too often around here.

Did they choke? Maybe so, but I doubt it. UCLA is good, and on any given day there's no tellin who's gonna win when the top ten or fifteen schools play each other. The possible exception to this may be Baylor. They are just better than the rest, and they soundly thumped Florida yesterday. They will have to choke to lose today.
