These are just suggestions, so take 'em at will. First decide how many members you would like in the club and how many it would take to finance the upkeep of the club grounds at X amount of dollars per member. Figure your requirements for membership and solicit for members privately or publicly whatever you want. After you reach your goal of members organize a meet and greet for all members. At the meet and greet, nominate and elect officials for your club, Pres., Vice Pres., Secretary treasurer, etc. After elections, take notes of rules ideas from all people present and turn over to elected body to make decisions on whats valid and what ain't. Set up a schedule of work days everyone can live with.
These are only suggestions, and you can't please everyone all the time in a club scenario. You must have a governing body though to make decisions for the club or it will be chaos.

Torch and Noangel are in the guiding business. They make money off of selling hunts, and I feel that it is reasonable to assume that they intend to make money off of selling memberships in said club.
The message provided more information than a simple question by stating that there were 10 pits and several sloughs. That is an initial solicitation, meant to draw interest.
Just my interpretation of the message...

I ain't interested in no club, just trying to be helpful if everythings on the up and up. Surely, if they want to solicit membership, they wouldn't do it here.

They have previously solicited business for Dixie Ducks.

i am sorry torch even asked this question because some people think we live off of duck hunting profit or some stupid **** . thanks for the info but please don't reply because the webmaster thinks we are selling something by asking a question. i wish some people could realize a question when asked not reading something else into every post! we are not making any money off of this but torch was trying to get some help on a common issue but not common here i see!

I know Micah, and trust me I was agitated by that and even researched the post when Judge JB asked on an old thread. But, as I previously stated, just trying to be helpful and hoping maybe these guys were back on the Forum for what it was intended. I appreciate this Forum and thank you for it and definitely ain't trying to step on no toes.

I'll answer the question. First someone has to proclaim themselves as the 'Dictator'.....what he says goes. You also have to have someone that would be capable of selling his mother to a stranger (you know, like used car salesmen)....he's in charge of pumping prospective members fulla 'schmidt', to get them to join.....tellin'em anything they wanta hear.
One of'em calls himself the 'Camp Manager' (promises to jump real high anytime a 'member' suggests something needs to be done to satisfy ANY grievence, but in reality only does as much as he feels like at the time). The other one is the 'Deal Maker' (normally, a trust fund baby that's use to people sucking-up to him, thinkin' some o' that money's gonna rub off on'em, somehow)......otherwise, spokesperson to the farmer you're going to lease from.
Now, the important task is picking the personalities of the two aforementioned. The 'Camp Manager' should be someone who thinks the only way to get ahead in life is to suck-up to those that have more than he does, or rob'em, blind....so naturally he'll have his nose shoved way-up the 'Deal Maker's wazzoo because he knows the 'Deal Maker' has plenty money....and about as much SENSE as God gave a turnip. The 'Deal Maker' (on the other hand) talks the 'talk', but doesn't really know much about duck hunting (but wants everyone to think he does), so he NEEDS the 'manager' 1)so he (himself) won't have to lift a finger for anything and 2) to have his own personal 'grunt' to take him where the ducks are (and therefore, project the image of a successful waterfowl killin' machine, while in actuality, he'd be hard-pressed to identify a duck, much less CLEAN one).
The rest is easy.....just advertise on a forum and find you a buncha naive 'first-timers' that are desparate for a place to 'get their feet wet' (go duck hunting).
Here' a simple formula....

You take the amount of the lease (plus, say $2000 that you tell the members you had to offer the farmer to 'get' the deal)
divide that by how many members you want to limit it to (excluding you and your partner)
tell the prospective members that the farmer didn't go for the offer and, to get the lease, everybody's going to have to chip-in another 20%. If they hesitate, tell some of'em (the hard 'sales')they can bring 2 guests, the others (easy 'sales') NO guests
say "if we don't have ducks at this lease, ya'll can come with me to my other lease right down the road" only to conveniently NEVER have any ducks there
collect the money from the members/suckers
pay the farmer
pocket $1000 apiece (remember the farmer's so-called $2000 'incentive', split 2 ways...to pay for that other lease 'down the road') If anybody ever questions that, just tell'em diesel went-up this year
post a list of rules that become subject to modification upon collection of all the fees, or if they don't suit you, at any point in time
after you get their money, tell'em if they want to hunt over decoys, they'll have to furnish their own or come-up with more money (that's a bad deal, 'cause 'Deal Maker' will bring all his 'non-hunter' fraternity buddies (he has a 4 guest priviledge) that can't distiguish between REAL ducks and FAKE ones, as they willfully 'water-swat' everything from coots to pied-billed grebes that make the unfortunate error of landing among YOUR 'brand-new' decoys.
Of course, if no members (paying) are in camp on a given day, call-up at least 8 of your friends, tell'em you've been hammerin'em and charge them $50 a seat. ('Course that should be distributed among your paying members, but what they don't know won't hurt them, right?)

You know, I'd really like to go on ('cause this is so much fun), but by now, you've probably figured-out this might not be the ideal 'club' atmosphere you are looking for.

The above post is one of the funniest ones I have ever seen on this board!! What insight to the dynamics of many clubs! Anyday of the season, I will take freelancing on public land and the credo of going to the ducks when they won't come to you.

......one o' my more 'Inspired' pieces. Thanks!
I too, like the idea of taking myself TO the ducks! That's all the more reason why I'll NEVER be in a 'club' or lease, again!

on a more serious note to answer your question if it is in sincerity, I have started several duck clubs, most of them still in existence. One was the purchase of 1000 acres near Money, Ms known as Tippo Timber Co. Another was a rice field lease near Isola and another was in Gayden Brake near Itta Bena. In addition, I have been a member or owner of 3 others I didn;t start. My best advice is to have a leader or 3 man committee that rotates every 2 years. The ideas stay new and everyone eventually has an opportunity to be a chief if elected by his partners.Clicks don't start this way and friends don't become enemies so easily. Don't have more rules than are needed. Too many rules causes too much bitching about who broke this one and that one. Thirdly, and I mean this seriously from experience. Doctors are difficult partners. They are generally very intelligent and highly opinionated. They like to be chiefs and I have found very few that accept being Indians. They make up a majority of clubs because they have money and duck clubs are an expensive sport. I have many close doctor friends and I don't mean my comment as criticism but as fact from my experiences. Finally, don't shoot your birds in the afternoon and expect them to be there in the morning. If you have majority menbers hunting on the week-ends let the birds rest and don't hunt Fridays and Mondays. Hope my tips are helpful.

Been there --- done that --- several times!!!
Best club EVER!!! Has ONE man, as the leader. He pays no dues, to compensate for his time and energy. He has a three man ADVISORY (only) committee, but HE makes the ultimate final decisions. He is a tough, fair, and thick-skinned DICTATOR. One voice, that's all that's needed. Afterall, it's just hunting---not rocket science!!! Never lost a member, and never had one minute of problems in 26 years!!!
