Worst memory (or funny one) of this season??

I saw an old man on sardis bait his decoys and catch a couple of crappie and a bass, I though that was some what humerous.

Not really that bad,but the first day that we limited out we got back to the landing and headed to the house found that the water had come over the road so much that we couldent get out.Wouldent have been that bad but we were totaly unprepared although we were asking for it going through water coming in the doors that morning before daylight..Any way we wound up finding a camp to crash at and then we were back at em the next morning limiting out again..IT was worth it..Wound up having to leave the truck and trailer down there for a week before we could get it out..Could have been worse Iguess if we hadent killed any ducks.

High Centered the truck at 4:30 a.m. on a "homeade" boat ramp with no one else around and no cell phone service [img]images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img] At least the wrecker was only fifty bucks.

worst: my 4 wheeler and 10 gauge got ripped off.
best and funny: one of the 1st day's I hunted by myself and limited out..It was great..Up to then I was 9 for 10 on ducks shot at and killed, (I thought I was actually a good shot at this point.)..this day I couldn't hit crap..usually when I'm by myself I shoot great, something happened..I laughed at myself; finally got the limit..Looking back it was nice to see some ducks and have them work.

Trying to explain to a customer what a dump was, trying to explain to a customer he couldn't walk across a dump, watching a customer go up to his neck trying to cross a dump, realizing the customer was from Mississippi, damn southerners!

HUnted South LA. with one of my buds for a few days in late December. Got in the pit one morning well before daylight, 3 of us altogether, standing there in ankle deep water, all of our gear, listening to geese flying over when I feel something brush against my leg. It startled me so bad that I jerked and when I did all hell broke loose. You 've never heard such a commotion as when you get three fat asses w/all their gear thrashing around trying to fight a crazed armadillo in the dark in a pit blind. I'll never forget it, nearly pissed my pants!!

WORST: afternoon hunt off a river chute, timing belt broke on duck boat motor, IN THE RIVER. no cell phone (thanks to big green), didn't get rescued until 1:00 a.m..

FUNNIEST: morning hunt, same day. ran out of gas on the Big Black. had to walk 2 miles to the truck to get gas and then go back to the boat.

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

WOULD BE A HELL OF ALOT FUNNNIER IF IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ME!!!

Had to be when my outboard decided to pass the boat, UNDER the boat, and was doing a helluva job till the fuel line and hot wire from the battery finally caught it and then it decided that donuts UNDER water benind the boat was fine. Talk about the pucker factor pegging out!! Fixed with a wrench and half of a aluminum can. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

The worst sinking feeling ever felt by man was recorded early in the season when we had all the initial rains. I was exploring a flooded river bottom about 26 miles downstream of the boat landing, when my engine warning horn sounded while going through all the debris associated with a log jam. The pucker factor was incredibly high that day since I had no idea where I was. At least my cell phone was intact safely inside my vehicle back at the ramp. Limped home at idle speed, pouring water on the engine block to keep it cool.

Turns out that my thermostat was the problem, not the impellor. The thermostat had become clogged up with debris. If I had my tool kit in the boat with me I could have pulled the thermostat out in the river. Y'all remember to check that if your warning horn ever goes off, it may save your engine. Luckily, mine didn't loose any compression.

The best memories were had exploring those same river bottoms. Thanks to high water and no ducks, I got to see a lot of new ground. I found some great holes that I can't wait to set up in and hunt one day next year, if we get some ducks. Some of these early hunts involved long boat rides of 30 miles or more, one way, then back, just looking around. I burned nearly 10 gallons of fuel in one morning scouting. I love riding in that boat!

Always look on the bright side for new opportunities.
