Here we go with the "parity" thing...maybe there's some truth to that, but watch the end of the season and see who's in the CWS! I can tell you, it's the programs with coaches who are FOCUSED.
Don't worry...if he wants to stay, LT will roll him out to the third base box in a wheel chair. That's just the way MSU is, they may lack many things, but loyalty ain't one of them.
One last thing, this retard would like to dominate every year, but every three or four will do
Is that asking to much from the greatest coach in SEC history

It used to be the great days, MSU, LSU and Fla. But now when the majority of the teams can offer recruits full scholly's, the times have changed. It's not whether or not the team is good, it deals with what's the most you can give me. I work at the loan dept at state for 3 yrs, and I know what they baseball players go through without hardly any help. And when they do find a loophole, everyone comes in to do it also and get blocked.
We do not need Polk to leave right now because I'm pretty sure nobody wants Tommy Raffo to be the successor, which he is as of this moment.

Lord help us if that is the case!!! He can't even coach hitting techniques so I know he can't be a good HC at State. It will never happen with LT in control but this program DESERVES a national search for a HC when Polk is gone.

you CAN NOT teach hitting techniques.......they give you a round bat to hit a round ball SQUARE.....that kinda hand/eye coordination is God given, nothing more.....you get great hi-school hitters in, tweek here and there, make em stronger, and hope they are 'gamers'...sure, there's always breakdowns in mechanics "at times" that need repairing, but, most slumps are just a run of bad luck and a loss of confidence....the difference in a .200 hitter vs a .300 hitter is about 1 extra seeing-eye ground ball a week....
you can tell in about 5 minutes who is gonna be a player vs who's gonna be charting during a game....takes a few cuts in BP, and you know...
i'd venture to say, that when/if polk retires you won't have to concern yourself w/ a national search - them mofos will be beating your door down...
best place to play ball in SEC: state
state fans are used to winning and for the most part, the older folks know how be gracious about it.....
true story:
playing left field my freshman year up at dudy noble (first time there, and bout chit my pants), Ricky Joe Redd hit a ball out, but it was close to the warning track, i was there and it sailed out....someone while trying to catch the ball, spilt some beer on me......after that, they stayed on me ALL GAME.....in a "good way" or a "baseball way", whatever....but, they had me shook

due to my buds playing there, i got a "soft spot" for the program in general - esp polk who told me i prolly wasn't good enough for state given the older players they had and the scholarships being tied-up, w/out really telling me....always appreciated that....gator

I understand that but I'm talking more about "style" than anything. Bonds created this crap of standing on top of the plate. A former Bulldog (Bruce Castoria) said that when he played in the alumni game there were no bats over 32 inches that State was using. He was taught to stay off the plate and hit the ball over the plate.
I know why kids creep up, it's to cover the outside of the plate. I believe that if you can't hit the outside pitch without standing on the plate, then get a longer damn bat and cover the whole strike zone.
Bruce also noted that every batter had the same form, stance, and technique at State this year. Look at any major league team and you will see how many different batting styles there are. At State, the teach the kids to use the exact same method and approach. It may not be called technique but whatever it is, it isn't working and we have no power hitters at all. Corley is the only real threat at every plate appearance and he is having a bad year (power wise).
I'm not saying you are wrong Gator, but something isn't working in Starkville.

Scott, it's called take signs......they are the ruination of a great hitting team. I hated the take sign with a passion in high school, and I would venture to say that 99.5% of my strikeouts were due to having to watch pitches right down the pipe only to be setup with a curve. I finally got pissed off and quit paying any attention to the "take" sign.......I figured if they had no confidence in their best contact hitter, with also the best eye for laying off bs pitches, that they had no common knowledge of how to coach.
I started ripping the ball, and I kept getting asked......did you miss that take sign? I said...yeah, must have.....but that ball sure did look pretty bouncing off the wall in left center.
After a couple of games they caught on the scheme and chewed me out, but I could've cared less........was looking out for my avg and putting runs on the board.
Heck, it was funny to me........I had to do what they said while I was at the plate, but when I was on the mound I could throw any pitch I wanted.
I finally got tired of having to go through all the signs with my catcher that I just told him.......be prepared for anything.....to heck with telling me what to throw.....just act like you are. I'll shake and nod my head to confuse the hitter and bring it. He'd put 1 down everytime, knowing that I didn't throw a "fastball" and I'd have to get him all the way through to 4 and 5 to get what I wanted.
I just told him to sit back and catch, and he'd pick up my tendencies.
BTW..........I dunno what Bruce told you, but I know that Corley and Jones both use 34", 31 oz bats.

yeh
Yes, I agree with you guys that Polk is good and he is doing a lot for the Baseball program from a Coach concerned about the NCAA, hell he treated me , a Juco walk-on a year and half out from basically a career ending injury pretty dang good and gave me a chance and offered to help me transfer to a program that could use me, what else could I had asked for, he is good and I respect the man, I had the whole office experience as well.
But as a State fan, one must ask the question, what have you done for me lately?
No divsion titles, no Sec titles, no World Series, Im sorry but at some point winning will out recruit how great of a coach you used to be.....
I want new, fresh blood, that only focuses on winning. I want to hang some banners at Dudy-Noble...thats what I want to do...whats all youlls goals for State.
So as a State Alumni, a fan, I ask myself, can Polk do this for us?, and I truly think maybe a 40% chance of coming around.
Hey Torch I played for Pearl River 92-94, our paths may have crossed a few times on the diamond..
