That does it. No more being nice to out of staters. They come and kill more ducks than I do in half the time. I don't balme em for coming but, damn I wish they'd go to LA or AR. You got to admire them though. Drive 12-15 hhrs on the hopes they might get to kill a duck.

Need Hunting Location Tip Please!
Dear Miss Hunters:
I certainly want to clear the air, because I feel that you'll are the friendliest and kindest hunters I have ever met. I need to be honest too. It was my best friend who came out last Sunday with his son to hunt. Me and my 2 sons went to Arkansas the week of Jan 1-5 and did right well near Brinkley, Ark. My friend had serious back trouble and could't go until this week. I asked for hunting tips "by Proxy" for him to help him get a head start on hunting the last 4 days. They killed a few ducks but it was miserable just like you'll told me. It was 82 degrees the last day they hunted, but they did kill some ducks. Forgive me for my sorry attitude, but we think you'll have an absolute paradise out there and don't really appreciate it. Lake Enid, Sardis, Arktabula, Lee, Wittington, Furgeson, Eagle, Washington, etc, etc, etc. Man what a state. Thank you for being such good sportsman. I hope that we can be the same in return. See you this fall I do hope.

S. C.hunt ducker,I am glad that we have the ducks we do in Mississippi and proud that others want to come here to hunt. While I realize that those who hunt the public areas do not want any more competition, the fact is that we who live here do not own the ducks and public waters are for the enjoyment of all. I have hunted in many other states and would hope that at least some of the resident hunters welcome the visitors. I would never try to hog someone's place or seek information beyond the bounds of duck hunting propriety, but I would hate to be resented. On the other hand, if I am going to travel to a distant state, I like to stack the odds by hiring a good guide who has knowledge of the local situation. Obviously, the cost of a pay hunt can be a major factor and some hunters prefer the challenge of prospecting their own birds on the public places. Each to his own, but I did want to let you know that not everyone here has an isolationist attitude!

Interesting that you came last year and had that kind of success and yet this year you need advise on where to go. Also interesting that you were only three birds short of a full mallard limit for five days between five people in ARK, and I have no less than a dozen reports that the ducks were crap there until the last couple weeks of the season. With that kind of success why not go back to ARK it is only a few more hours over there.
OHWELL mute point now that the season is over anyway.
Would however be interesting to see how many you and your son killed on this trip, (after all) You said all you had to do is work hard at it.
We(5 of us) came to Miss last year and killed 100 mallards and 50 little ducks in 5 days. Went to Ark this year and killed 97 mallards in 5 days.

Hey Mississippi,
SCH said it right, you don't know what it's like to not have ANY ducks. I live in Al, we had a bunch of rain the last week of the season and the Tn. river flooded some public ground that had standing corn in it, about 500 acres of good corn. They leave about 1/3 of it for the deer. I went and chased them for 2 days. Here's the summary: Number of hunting parties in the area--3
Number of shots fired in 2 days--6
Number of birds bagged--2 (woodducks)
Good news was no crowd, bad news was no ducks. Understand that the 6 shots fired were from ALL 3 parties--in a flooded cornfield. You guys are in paradise!
My son and I hunt a good bit in MO, about a 4 hour drive for us but it's worth it just to see ducks. A few out-of-staters were in MO this year and I didn't resent it one bit. When i was a MO resident some 9 years ago I would have not been too happy to see them. But with the AL. experience--I get it now.
Enjoy and appreciate your state, sounds wonderful. I may run itno some of you next year, might try the Ms. hunting myself
Good luck to all next year--how many days till season?
