I just got off the phone with a conservation officer and he didn't know the site either. He also said that it was the biggest deer he has ever seen in his life. And i asked him was it shot or did it die of natural causes and he said it was shot. Some guy has owned up to shooting it a week earlier, and another guy found it while hunting.

A hunter from Florida killed the deer, but couldn't find him. He searched for 3 more days and had to go back home. This other hunter found the deer 3 weeks later, and was offered $1000 by the Florida hunter, but he wants to keep it. I've got 3 pics of it, just trying to figure out how to post them from my email. I did all the time on the old board, but can't on this one.

There is a photo of it at the store between Satartia and Holly Bluff. Word is it was shot during high water and couldn't be retrieved. Someone got it after the water receeded. The deer was somewhat decayed. They say the photo makes the deer look larger, but at any rate, it was a HUGE deer and looks larger than the Mahannah buck.

I read all of these Posts and there are some stories getting mixxed up. The buck that I was directed to look at on MSdeer.com is not comparable to another buck killed by a man from Yazoo. One of the stories matches his closely but that is not his deer. This gentleman top be un-named had his buck scored and it is the 2nd largest ever killed in the state. The score on the Mahannah was pending at that time, I do not know how it came out.

I have been hunting Yazoo for a good many years and the story I got from the GW, is that a hunter from Missouri shot the deer on a draw primitive weapon hunt, but could not find it. It was found approximatly a month later after the water went down.

The hunter had filled his daily use permit out and said he had wounded a big buck. When the deer was found the GW remembered the hunter and phoned him. The guy described the deer to a T.

I know the guy that found the deer and the hunter from Missouri wanted the horns, but the other guy did not want to give them up.

You as a sportsman can make your own call.

Me personally, I saw that same deer in Oct. '99 and hunted him hard every Oct. bowseason season since. I could not hunt him in the Jan. season, because of where he hung out(PINK AREA). For some reason,(TO MANY APPLICATIONS FROM OUT OF STATE) I've NOT got drawn for the primitive weapon season in 3 years.

I know of 2 different people that green scored it.
